gradual slow down of aqua mail
« on: December 02, 2012, 07:16:39 pm »
Hi,

Installed and absolutely loved the product. But after A few weeks of use, it really started to slow down. The biggest issue I noticed was that when I used to open my mail inbox it started to take upwards of fifteen seconds for the mails to show up. Basically the program would start and I would go to inbox and then nothing would happen for quite a while. This behaviour started to get worse over A few weeks and things kept getting slower. I am on samsung galaxy s2 and was using the program with two mail accounts only. Temporarily moved back to k9
Honestly I love this mail program and am eager to come back to it. Help.,

Hi,

Yes, I've had reports of this from a few users. Not seeing it on any of my devices, so would appreciate if you could make a debug log, as described on the support page.

Please email the log to kmansoft / at sign / gmail / dot com, thanks.

After this is done, could you try Menu / Compact message store in the app's main window?

I too am seeing this issue.  It makes aquamail quite unusable.  I'd prefer to continue to use AM as I like it much better than the alternatives that I've tried.  (Thanks for the great App!)

I've tried Compact message store and it doesn't seem to help.  One thing I notice is that I'm pretty much always in the syncing state and that I had to kill and restart AM in order to access the compact option.  I don't know if this is symptomatic of an issue or to be expected.

I'll unicast the log file.

If you're pretty much in sync state, that could be something else.

Please record a debug log and contact me, so I can investigate.

You could also disable IMAP push in the app's settings -- just as a test, to see if that's it. If it helps, I'd still be happy to look into it.

I have been having this same problem for a while. Even after compacting the database, Aqua mail slows down throughout the day, so that when I press the icon, the inbox opens but it can take 30 seconds for the emails to load. This does not occur with any other program. I have deleted and reinstalled aqua mail but the problem persists, though it is intermittent during the day.

I have one IMAP and one POP3 account set up and both have the issue. Messages per page is set to 100, which has worked well even before this problem arose. My phone is the Motorola Droid Maxx HD running Android 4.1.2

Great program, but this issue may keep me from continuing to use aqua mail. Please help.

Thanks

UPDATE: Just emailed you my log file.
