What is meaning of ”503 AUTH command…” ?

Hi and good day,

Cannot connect to outgoing mail server*. Tried many things. Not even with POP3.
*(mailin is ok).

Error message:
”Outgoing mail server (SMTP):
Authentication error. 503 AUTH command used when not advertised.”

Cannot make sense out of this, anyone knows?

Login error.

Try changing encryption from "none" to "STARTTLS", and optionally port number from 25 to 587.

OR

Change encryption to "SSL", the port number will change to 465.

First, in terms of encryption settings, we actually made progress.

You can use either:

- SSL (any) or SSL (strict) + port 465

OR

- STARTTLS (any) or STARTTLS (stict) + port 587

Second, when it comes to logging in:

- Try entering your login for the outgoing server as "username" without the "@domain" part. AquaMail defaults (pre-fills) with "username@domain".

( I think the server *may* only accept it like that )

AND / OR

- In the outgoing server settings, please try changing Authentication from "Choose automatically" to "SASL PLAIN" OR "SASL LOGIN"

( I think the server *may* be advertising CRAM-MD5 and as usual it's not working... )
