Unread count wrong

On one of my accounts, when all messages are read, the unread count says there are six unread messages. When there is one unread message it says 7 and so on. I tried sorting unread first, and I tried uninstalling and re-installing the app. I removed the account then synced it again. There have been a couple updates since this started. Nothing has changed. Although this doesn't really effect the functions of the app, except for marking emails as read from notification bar, it still frustrates me. Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated! Also I am using the free version. If upgrading will fix the problem I am willing to pay for the full version.

Is this a @gmail.com account?

Since IMAP lets the app request the number of unread messages on the server, it does that...

There may be older unread messages in the account that the app has never seen, but which affect the server's unread count.

It's a yahoo account. Thank you for the link. I  did what it said, but it didn't fix it. I just deleted all my emails that weren't stared. That fixed whatever was going on.

I've heard about this before and seen debug logs. It seems their server sometimes reports wrong unread counts.

I have the same problem and my accounts are Gmail. I don't want to have to mark all as read if I haven't read the ones that I want /need to!!!!! Thanks in advance

@Aphrodite -- can you elaborate a bit?

Are all your messages marked read, and yet the unread count -- where, on the app's icon? -- show a non-zero number?

But you also wrote that you have older unread messages, so I'm probably missing something?

If you have unread messages, then they will be counted by Aqua, and will show in the app's main window (account list) and on the app's icon.

Is that what you're saying?

And you would like to see only the number of "actually new messages, just received now", is that it?
