Aquamail can't write to external sd card (still)

Hello,
i thought it was fixed (AM was working fine on both my SG S4 and Lenovo A5k)? Recently i bought Huawei P10 and i was a little bit surprised to find that AM still can't write to external card. It  has storage permissions allowed but...
Is this normal behavior (afaik all other apps can write to external SD) or?

It's not a permissions thing.

And no, we didn't change anything - but some devices do allow apps to write to the microSd, if the manufacturer disagrees with Google's position about this (I've got a Motorola that's like that).

Oh and I wouldn't be so fast with "all other apps"

Ok, ok. All other apps, currently installed on the phone.
Also file/folder selector doesn't  show all folders in /storage, look at the screenshots:

We get the list of sub-folders through standard Android file system calls.

Maybe the file manager (in your "other" screenshot) does "something special" to get the other folders.

But I'll repeat - Aqua Mail is not a file manager app, therefore, the "emphasis" is not on file features (can your file manager check / send email?)

And please do keep in mind too that Aqua Mail is perfectly capable of "caching" attachments on the "real" microSd memory card. APp settings -> storage (may not be enabled by default). You'll find more details on this in the FAQ.

It's not about the cache, actually built-in memory is larger then the sdcard (64GB vs 32 GB). But i'd prefer to save attachments on the sd card.

P.S. I have this feeling that /storage/sdcard1 is writable by 3rd party apps, so i just have to choose it somehow.

Hello everyone (and especially you, Kostya )

I answer this topic quite old because, nowadays in 2019, Aquamail remains one of the only applications that can not write on an external SD card (and yes, I know it's not a file manager; D!) ... in any case, I did not find the way to save the configuration on a directory of the external SD card
All the -very numerous- apps I'm using on Android are using différents "files providers"  or "files pickers" that let me choose the directory by the use of my favorite FileManager (for exemple : X-Plorer).
Can't you consider to make this evol for this fisrt class piece of software... please ?
