Cannot swipe quickly in message view

Hi,

When I swipe in an email to view older messages, if I swipe too fast, e.g. swipe right and immediately swipe right again, I can't swipe to the next message. It will get stuck there, even when I wait for a while and then swipe. To get around that, I have to swipe back (left), then swipe right again and this time I have to be careful not to swipe too fast.

It depends on the size of the app's database (how many message you've set it to download, how large they are, shown in Menu -> About as Messages.sqldb - size here) and the device's performance.

I also suspect that you may be swiping through unread messages (right?) and them messages are getting marked as read in the process (not that there is anything wrong with that at all)?

Thanks for your reply. The size of the database is 35m and I'm using Google Pixel.

No, it happens when I was swiping through read messages. But to be fair, I was swiping really fast, like swiping when the last swipe has not even finished. I don't actually need to swipe that fast in normal use, but I've done this in other email apps and they don't have this issue. It just feels kind of cool to be able to swipe very fast in message view considering that the overall speed of this app in other occasions is amazing.

Yes, read messages and with big db and with small db.

Fast swipe, that the mail is not fully loaded.

Sometimes you are looking for something and know the optic of the mail and the date/time. So you swipe fast and it occurs.

Um, ok. We keep one "extra" message on each side for swiping, and "refill" the sides as needed (as opposed to having the entire "infinite" list available at all times).

Maybe there is a way to tweak that code. I'll write it down in our "long" list.

Haha thanks, maybe changing from only keeping 1 message in the stack to 2-4 messages will totally solve this issue without compromising performance.

I was able to reproduce on a pretty fast phone, the trigger seems to be exactly what you wrote, starting to swipe again before the current swipe "settles in".

It's too late in our current 1.12 dev cycle, but I'll try to take a look reasonably soon.

I just found that this issue has been resolved in the latest version!
