Night mode not turning off

Hello -

I have night mode set up. From 11:00pm to 6:15am. Suppress the LED is checked as is Turn off Push mail.  Push mode is on for all accounts, no scheduling normally. In the morning it does not download any mail at all. I have to manually refresh it.

Is the device a Samsung?

Can you try enabling scheduled mail checks (globally)?

Yes, it's a Samsung. Remind me where to do that globally though please. And for how often I should set it to check. Thank you. Steve

On Samsung's, time based events can "fire" before the scheduled time - even if Android documentation clearly says that this absolutely cannot happen ("later" - OK, "sooner" - NO).

And so when the event to turn night mode off fires - before it's time - the app doesn't "understand" that "the night mode is over, push needs to be re-enabled".

At least that's what my magic ball says is happening on your phone

We could try to schedule alarms for a bit later, but it would cause delays on other phones.

App settings -> mail, receiving -> "scheduled mail checks" and I'd recommend a 15 or 30 minute interval.

Thanks for the detail. I'm going to try out Macroroid and see if a couple macros can solve the issue. If that doesn't work I may try the scheduling.

In general I recommend not turning off "scheduled mail" when using "push mail" -

- scheduled mail checks will get "the other" folders, i.e. you typically won't enable push in all your folders

- scheduled mail checks also "monitor" push mail just in case

( we really should adjust how those settings operate in the UI........ )

Thanks. Maybe you could put out a recommended settings FAQ for push mail that also includes scheduled checks. I never know what boxes to check. And then I forget to backup my settings and have to figure it all out again. (Yeah, that's on me for being stupid).

Yeah I keep thinking we should not allow "scheduled sync off  + push on" in the UI... And then keep forgetting...
