Text to Speech Priority over Notificaitons per contact?
« on: August 27, 2017, 09:55:09 pm »
I'm baffled, text to speech feature is added, but a simple notification by contact/email is still not a feature?

I don't recall seeing the demand for TTS but I've seen requests for notifications per contact/email from years ago and I've brought it up multiple times since.

Yes, true, per-contact notifications "slipped through the cracks" - it's one of the (many many many) "ideas for future versions", but hasn't been picked up for dev.

Maybe you could help us understand what *your* expectations from this are?

I can see at least two -- opposite -- scenarios:

1 - "When I get home from work, I put the phone into silent mode, but my boss / mom / girlfriend are on the priority list, so I want to be notified with a sound"

2 - "I went to see a move and put the phone into silent mode, and then stupid Aqua Mail played a sound when there was an email from my wife"

Comments, ideas?

It is great the app is being developed, don't get me wrong, but TTS in my opinion is a feature not many will and not practical at all for daily business or personal use. Notifications per email address is a practical daily feature anyone can use. The two scenarios you mentioned I'm sure some users will find very helpful. I'm thinking even more simple and practical reasons for this feature.

Setting a sound for an email address is about as basic as possible and servers many purposes. No dependencies on phone state. If your phone is on Vibrate it should vibrate and not make a sound, if it's on Silent than no alerts should sound, if its on phone mode than only your phone rings etc. No need to complicate this simple request.

For example:

I have clients who I want to set a special sound for to let me know it is a priority.

I want to set a special sound for my kids.

I want to set a special sound for my Dr.

I want to set a special sound for contacts who are not critical for me to respond right away.

The scenarios go on and on, again it is a very simple request and feature which can be used daily for any number of scenarios. Your examples while they are worthy to note it requires more programming for detecting phone state which is not necessary. Just provide us with the basic. Allow users to set sounds for an email address to start.

Hope this simple request helps jump start the development. I will be more than happy to test as I'm sure others will too since this is not the first time this request has been made.

Thanks

Thank you. Good info.

I'll pass it along -- but don't think we could possibly start on it "right now". I appreciate the clarification though, this is useful, just to start understanding users' needs (starting with one).

Glad to be of help, this is not the first time I've seen this request dating back to a few years. I'm just hoping some resources will be used to address this long awaited request. No need to complicate the feature. Just a simple ringtone per email address or even a priority list ringtone for starters will do.

I'll check beck on this in a few months and hopefully there is some traction in beta development.

Thanks

AquaMail is my preferred mail client, but I migrated to another client because AquaMail is missing this VIP notification feature which I find essential for work e-mail. I get far too much e-mail in my job and need a mechanism to easily draw attention to messages from my boss and a few other people. Unfortunately, the client I was using is no longer in development so I was really hoping AquaMail supported this now. Sadly, it still isn't there. Please make this a higher priority.

Completely agree this is probably one of the most useful features a mail app can have. I don't want to go back to Gmail which offers a priority notification option. I would hope this feature is added sooner than later.

Just wanted to add onto this post since this feature has been asked for well over a year ago but doesn't appear to exist still. I have missed too many important emails due to the lack of this feature, so I will be changing mail clients. It's a shame since I liked this product over all of the others I've tested, and felt most secure about it over other products. Someone should let the people in charge know the lack of this feature is causing them to lose users.

I've tried through all channels to get this feature added, believe me, Kostya can attest to this. Sadly this is not a priority for them while other features which boggle my mind about it's usefulness are prioritized.

Again asking , Please add this feature.

Hi there, I love your Software. Using it for about 1,5 years.

But now I need this feature :-)

There are too many emails disturbing my work. But I need notifications of some of them.
Please let us select senders vor a blacklist or whitelist or create a group only receiving notifications from.

Kind regards,

Don't hold your breath on this one, no matter how many users ask for this useful feature they will never add it.
