How do I change the icon images for each account?

Hi, How do I change the icon image that is shown for each account in the account list window? Right now my Gmail account has the image that was used online, but the second account I made (an IMAP) used the Gmail image as well (this was automatic for some reason as I didn't choose it). My third account only has the first letter of the address in a coloured circle. I have looked through the settings many times and the way to change the images has eluded me. Is there a way to change these and add my own image?

The app's logic is:

- For Gmail / Hotmail / Yandex, try to get the icon from your social profile in those services. The icon is updated every 24 hours.

- If missing, look up the account's email address in your phone's Contacts

- If missing, use the generic "color letter" (same as used in message lists / message view to represent senders of your incoming messages).

Hi, Thanks for your reply.

I understand that it grabs the image used with my gmail account. It also added my gmail image to another account(IMAP) which is not connected to gmail in any way - so I have 2 accounts with the exact same icon image. Is there not a way to customize the account images myself? This would make it so much easier to identify accounts quickly. And, to clarify,I am not referring to my contacts and the icons that show up with their emails.

I'm guessing that you have an entry in your phone's Contacts with that image and that account's email address.

There isn't a "direct" way to do this -- it's all automatic, and the logic I've listed above.

For OAUTH2 accounts - the "user's profile image" if applicable.
Then the Contacts in the Contacts app.
And the final fallback is a "color chip".

If you're having trouble telling which account is which - may I suggest enabling app settings -> look and feel -> "with account names" (just below the "navigation drawer" and "accounts panel" items).

The simple, direct answer is:

AquaMail uses the icons from the Gmail contact list.

To change the icon, change the icon at Gmail contacts. If an account doesn't have an icon (uses just a coloured letter chip), it isn't entered in your Gmail contact list - add it and add an image. Done.

Works fine for my Gmail accounts, but not for my Yandex ones. They acquire the avatar from my default [Gmail account]

I have to say that I consider this also rather unfortunate. I have several emails listed under my contact and now cannot distinguish between them as there is always the same image. I do not consider it a solution to create individual contacts (for me) with different email addresses and pictures. Please add an option to configure the account symbols. Thank you!

Edit: OK, as a temporary solution, I can re-enable the account overview uj settings - Look & Feel - Layout - disable Hide the account list screen.

This seems to have stopped working for some accounts. My Gmail icon has disappeared. I've tried creating a contact with just that email address, but that doesn't seem to have achieved anything either. Is there a delay in getting contact profile pictures or just off socials? Is there a way to kick Aquamail into checking for the photo immediately?
