3 years ago I bought Aquamail

While looking for some 3-year old charges, I've found that in mid-June of 2014, I paid for Aquamail. That makes it 3 years... Wow!..
Despite all the grievances and (somewhat heated) discussions, I still consider that the best software purchase.

I'm wondering others have the same 'dilemma' as I have.

I want truckloads of updates with new functionality.
But OTOH I fear updates because above all I don't AquaMail to become bloatware.

I am a bit more conservative in my needs, and I am mostly happy with what I have now.
The major functionality that is missing for me at the moment is the per-account configuration of sync on mobile networks. And once it will be implemented (I am hopeful), and I switch to that version, the only missing thing would be the recently removed reflow-on-zoom.
(And I am hoping that no other valuable (for me) existing functions will be removed in the mean time.)

My experience is that Kostya has been rather conservative about not turning Aquamail into a bloatware.  I cannot speak for the MobiSystems' policy, but so far it sounds like they have been listening to his opinion, trusting his vision that brought the app to where it is now. So the fact that Kostya remains the "chief" developer, is a positive indication.

And I've seen Kostya being very conscious about not making Aquamail a resource hog. I remember when he was deciding how to implement conversations (threads), the app size was carefully considered (and a couple of very different solution options were compared).

Speaking frankly, I'm more than happy with current version. And don't want any more updates for stability sake. Maybe except separate attachment tab like the bottom one under the account list. We were talking with Kostia about it while ago.

Then, don't update, at least until that functionality that you are seeking is implemented.

Luckily (and that's a very good feature of Aquamail), nobody is forced to upgrade.
(I really hate that some apps (bank and airline)  always require you having the latest version after so-called "minor changes". I deleted TripAdvisor app [and a few other apps] for that reason.)

I agree. However, I'm missing the possibility to exclude *specific* apps from the play store update list.

I agree, that's a big limitation of Google Play Store. As a result, all my updates are manual. Not to mention the fact that it itself (Play Store app) updates whenever it desires even when I have limited traffic/paid connection.

That's the problem with all "big" companies: MS, Google, Adobe, ... - they think they know what is better for the users, and don't allow experienced users to do how it's better for them. Try turning off/postponing updates (beyond just a few hours) in Win10...

You'd have to root the device and unlock the bootloader.
At the very least that requires lots of time that some people may not have. And there are additional factors involved: voiding warranty, loosing OTA updates and/or support from the cell-service provider, risk of bricking your device, ... And finally, AFAIK, some devices are impossible to root.

At my case, I do like changing roms, exploring and learning, so making phone rooted is a must for me
People are defferent, agry.
Another thing, only today I discovered, that I can have a custom vibration per different account
That's a lovely feature, wow!

Hear hear, and how they pushed the "creator's update" too (and Win 10 itself before that).

In the end I updated just to get rid of the darn notification (my main work environment is Fedora Linux, sometimes Ubuntu, and I reboot into Win 10 only as needed....)
