I am using the Android AquaMail version 1.14.2-840 with Pro enabled.

When I delete a message, the message is "marked as read" and moved to "deleted" on the App. However, on the server, the message is only "marked as read," but not deleted--as if I had "Hide in the app, keep on the server" set.

  • Email accounts are set to "Move to Deleted folder first" under account options.
  • This happens using my own email server (SmarterMail) and Yahoo.
  • If I set to "Delete immediately", the messages are deleted from the server immediately.
  • If I simply move a message to another folder, the message is moved from the Inbox to other folder both in the App and on the server.
  • But.... if I delete a message, it is not deleted from the server - just like it would be if I had "Hide in the app, keep on the server" enabled.
  • It used to work beautifully.
  • This seems to be a newer issue (Since March 2018) which is when I think I updated to the latest version.

If I remove and re-add the accounts, they work fine. WTF happened? I really don't want to add 15 accounts again.

Please check that the account's Deleted folder is properly mapped to a server folder.

- Long press on the account on the app's main screen
- Options and folders -> Folders
- Wait 10-30 seconds for the app to refresh the folder list
- Find "the" Deleted folder ("Deleted Messages", just "Deleted", "Trash", "Bin"... can vary.. for Gmail it would be under "[Gmail]" or "[GoogleMail]")
- Tap its name, choose "Sync as Deleted".

You may want to check Drafts and Sent as well while you're on that screen.

---

What probably happened is - the app's database got corrupted and the app restored basic account settings (but server folder mappings are not part of that... maybe it should be).
