Aquamail keeps Sony Z5compact activ
« on: February 11, 2017, 11:01:06 pm »
hi folks,

after years Aquamails makes trouble here for the first time. Because my English is much better when I read than write I will post a few screenshots. I'm sure, you will understand my problem.

System: Sony Z5c, Android 6.0.1, AM 1.7.2-121.
1 IMAP-Account, check for new emails every 15 minutes.
4 IMAP-Account, check f.n.m. daily.

When I stop Aquamail in the Android preferences, the energy consumption is typical an the smartphone and e.g. not in active mode over night. Stop checking emails automatically, playing with switch on/off pushing the emails or notifications or something makes no difference.

Do you have any idea how I can fix the problem? The last version worked good here.

thanks

I suspect your issue is discussed in the FAQ item "Android 5+ and high battery use, 'mobile radio active'":

Thank you for your reply and interest. I think your idea is not right.

- Problem is seen first time after months
- There was only a small change of the system (security update from Sony)
- In the other discussion there is always a high use of mobile data. See here my system:

Sorry, but I can't figure out any issues in your screenshots which might be related to AquaMail.

Yes it's *the* Android 5+ "mobile radio active" issue:

- Reasonable "keep active" time
- Much larger "total connect time" (also known as "mobile radio active") time

What happens is Android keeps the mobile radio hardware in a high power state when it's not needed anymore -- and it gets counted against the app that last used mobile data transfer (and stopped).

It's not deterministic -- has some randomness to it.

Please see the FAQ, it's covered there with screenshots of same issue happening to other apps.

One more thing is wrong:

The "total CPU time" is waaaay waaaay larger than the "keep awake time". I just don't see how it be 30 times larger.

Mmh, sh*t.
I had that problem few years ago with my Moto G (1st Generation). I was happy that I was not affected the last years any more. I will discuss this in a German forum.

Thanks for your spontaneous help
