Problem with Apple @me.com Account

Hello,

sry, i try my best in english.


I have follow problem ...

Send I a Mail from Aquamail to me self, i see the mail in "Sent" but not in Inbox...
The same when i sent so another person. I see the mail in Outbox/Sent but it comes to nothing.

Sent from PC/MAC, no Problem.
Sent with other APP (K-@ Mail), no Problem.


I delete the Account and re-created but the same problem.

With other Accounts @gmail.com ... No Problem. Only with @me.com Account.

I hope it is understandable.

I've seen this before.

Apple's servers can be "picky", and not deliver a message.

If there is no error in Aqua Mail when sending, it means the message was accepted by Apple's outgoing (sending) mail server, and the rest (delivering the message) is its responsibility.

It would be best for you to contact Apple support. Maybe they can tell you what their servers didn't like.

I only have an @icloud account, and it seems to be fine, I sent a message to Gmail and a message to FastMail, both got through within seconds.

Hello Kostya,

just to clarify. If i send a Message from iPhone, MAC Mail or any other Android App there is no problem and the message is arrive within seconds.

I testet with K-@ Mail to check if the device doesnt work.
I deletet this account (IMAP) from Aquamail and added it automatically and manualy.
The check of ingoing and outgoing server check is successful.

If i send a messages from @me account via aquamail it goes out, shows in send messages but doesnt arrive to recipient (different, email providers)

If this problem was on more than one appliance then i would contact apple support.
Sending email works on all other appliances and also this phone except when i use aquamail. So i think i a bug in aquamail.

I also wonder that the message is shown in send mail on all appliences where this email account is installed but nothing goes out.

Im not sure, its a Bug? I have sniff packages between Aquamail und @me Account.

Aquamail send:
EHLO [192.168.x.x]
STARTTLS
--------------------------------
K-@ Mail send:
EHLO 192.168.x.x
STARTTLS

Aquamail send EHLO command with [], K-Mail without.

This does not matter?

Yes, I understood.

What I'm saying is:

- A mail app "submits" an outgoing message to the (an) SMTP server. Ends with the DATA command ... actual data ... ".<CR><LF>".

- At this point, the (an) SMTP server either accept that message, and if it does, then the message is its responsibility, not the mail apps.

- We know that you're not seeing any issues with the above part -- Apple's SMTP serve does *accept* messages from Aqua Mail.

Re: EHLO

K9 Mail's is (maybe) wrong, Aqua Mail's is right: RFC 2821 section 4.1.3.

If Aqua's was wrong, the SMTP server would have replied to the (malformed) EHLO with an error status code, which it doesn't.

AquaMail settings -> composing and sending -> turn off "send user agent".

Per-account options (long press on the account) -> options and folders -> composing and sending -> turn off "send message-id".

( something somewhere may be set up to check the "validity" of Message-IDs, or to reject certain user agents... but as I wrote above, no trouble for me sending from @icloud to gmail and fastmail )

You have right, ... separated by dots and enclosed by brackets such as [123.255.37.2], ... thanks.

- I have "turned off "send message-id"" and now it works.

Um, there are some reasons why it's better, when you use IMAP, to generate the Message-ID on the client (rather than relying on the SMTP server to do that).

But I guess there may be cases when "something", "somewhere" checks for "well formed Message-ID" in a way that's dependent on the originating address. Think I've heard about some corporate "email security" products that do that. And then they drop anything that doesn't match their expectations.
