Mass e-mail delete function
« on: April 25, 2014, 06:43:08 pm »
I unfortunately get over 200 e-mails daily and it takes a significant amount of time to delete the unwanted from Aqua mail.  Other e-mail programs allow for an "all delete", then you delete those which you desire to save or mark with a flag.  If this functionality available Aqua-mail? I see the quad-box Icon, but this only market the viewable e-mails?

Because I have the same question, I might join in..

Other email apps have a button that puts a circle on all emails in any folder.
You then have the option to check some or hit an  all button to automatically check all and a one click delete for all.

And to add my two cents:

You can completely purge Deleted and Spam folders (for IMAP accounts) by long pressing them in the account list, and selecting "Delete all" from the popup menu -- or by opening those folders and selecting "Delete all" from the regular Menu.

OK here is the problem... I ALSO get a metric ton of emails and so I also have to sit and page select over and over then delete.  A couple times the feature stopped allowing select all.

I am NOT able to delete all at the inbox folder level (deleting all in inbox).

I DO NOT USE IMAP as I do not like it.

ANYWAY here is how I would describe the feature set I am (and maybe the previous person) is looking for.

At the inbox folder level (or below is if one creates sub folders under Inbox) one should be able to filter the email and then delete all in filter.  For example I get an email from my surveillance system every time there is a motion and it triggers so I get a bunch of these..... now if I know I was causing them all day Saturday because I was working on the yard... I should be able to filter to Saturday and then filter by email address (from the specific camera for example) then delete all in filter and delete them.... now with this in mind theoretically I should be able to delete all in inbox (or sub folder) if I applied no filters.

If you look at how outlook does this, you can sort of see what is meant by a true delete all not selecting page by page by page and then deleting... thats annoying.

BY the way I am a pro user.

This should work for other folders that are appropriate too.

Of course, this procedure is annoying and is not recommended.

Instead, you should use the 'search' option in AquaMail (the "magnifying glass" on the top bar) to filter all messages which are matching the search item.

You can find this option in message list view.
Enter your keyword(s), then swipe on the left from top to down (*) to select all displayed messages, tap on "Move to deleted" or 'Delete permanently" or "Move to folder... or [any other action].

(*) You have to enable the following two options in the settings prior:
1) Menu > Settings > Message list > enable "Pull to select" = Swipe down on the left to select
2) (in the same section) > choose "Select" All" means = "All loaded messages".

Had you been using IMAP, you could configure the server to put all these into a separate folder.

And it would be always be perfectly consistent between web mail, Aqua Mail, and your desktop mail app.

And won't require any maintenance for years.
