Just updated to this version. Getting crashes constantly... every 30 seconds or so. Crashes even when AM not actually open in foreground.

I returned a crash report for you.

Was going to uninstall and reinstall, but cant figure out how to backup all my settings (and dont want to lose/re-download all my downloaded emails either)

A reboot didn't solve it unfortunately.

Yes, this is a bug, I'm looking into it, no fix yet (sorry).

You can "opt out" of the Play "beta"

Or downgrade in-place to this earlier non-"Google Play beta" version:

Hi, since translations threads are closed, I'd like to give a feedback here in this thread.

Kostya wrote before, that translations were built from scratch up, also german. In result, on the one hand we see a better grammar now, thank you. On the other hand, there is some terminology, which is not common in german software language, and there is at least one bigger issue. Let me explanate two points:

1. The term "folder" is now translated everywhere as "Verzeichnis". This is not an appropriate way to do.

Ususally in software translations "folder" is translated (as in 1.6.x) as "Ordner". This expression is also used in Windows and well known by all people using german language.

The term "directory" (known from DOS, Linux etc.) usually is translated as "Verzeichnis". There are a lot of people, who don't know, what "Verzeichnis" means in technical way of meaning.

Furthermore:
- "Inbox" is translated as "E-Mail-Eingang". Usual translation is "Posteingang" known and used by other software
- The previous "Smart Box" is now translated as "Smart-Verzeichnis". Funny.

2. Wrong translation string: In account settings you will find in 1.7.x the item "Remove deleted messages" with explanation:

"Remove local copies of messages no longer on the server" (screenshot 1: original english)

This means that deleting a message on server will delete the local copy.

This is translated to a strange thing, almost the contrary:
"Lokale Nachrichten-Kopien nicht mehr vom Server entfernen" (see screenshot 2: wrong german 1.7.x)

This means in english:  "Do not remove local copies of messages from the server anymore"

In version 1.6.x it was translated in an appropriate way:
"Vom Server gelöschte Nachrichten auch lokal entfernen" (see screenshot 3: correct german 1.6.x)

I'm afraid that users will be irritated by new translations.

Maybe with support of MobiySystems it's now possible to pay a pro as translator now?
And last question: Where is user mikeone, who did many translation before in AquaMail?

I totally agree with @nica's comments. His objection is entirely reasoning:

It seems that MobiSystems has worsened some translations... probably not limited to Arabic, French and German.

I feel the pain and frustration. My personal contribution to the translations was minimal, and I am using English in Aquamail, so, I am not seeing all the awkwardness. But if I were as involved as some of the people here, including @mikeone, and my work would've been thrown away and replaced with some mediocre version (and especially if I would be facing that mediocrity on a daily basis), I'd be pissed.
On another hand, I understand the dilemma related to copyrights that MobiSystems was facing. (In my work and in my hobbies, I've been dealing with copyright issues quite a bit.) And I understand that they preferred to play safe.

As for the quality of the translations they added, - I also realize that it could be tricky. On one hand, if the company doesn't have in-house translators, getting a quality translation is quite expensive, and the revenue has to cover that.
On another hand, it might be actually difficult to find a good translator in the specific technical area. And it is hard to evaluate the quality of the particular translator if you don't know that language yourself.

I think MobiSystems management is smart (since they've chosen this particular program as their target). So, I hope they are listening to the users' feedback, and will take that into account...

Good points, let me clarify a few things.

1 - Old translations: it's all about "can MobiSystems use them legally or not".

Since these were done before MS entered the picture, it would have been equally bad to just use them without asking.

Some were done by one person only, so it was easy to send an email and get the permission (or not).

Others were done by several persons, so I wasn't sure I'd be able to track down everyone involved.

German fell into this latter category. So, nothing personal against @mikeone or @nica, I just could't remember if there had been perhaps someone else contributing, and if so, what his/her items had been and how to contact them (but I had vague memories that there had been, even more than one person).

2 - The *old* translation sections are closed to avoid confusion.

But anyone is welcome to post suggestions for his/her language, in that same section.

I've tried to explain that in the old "translations how-to" sticky, guess it went unnoticed, here is a new one:

3 - The new translations are all done by professional translators, but they don't have any experience with this particular app, and don't use it themselves.

This is unfortunate, but quite expected, but still unfortunate.

4 - Polish in particular I didn't get the permission for, and it was not submitted to be re-done (unintended, a mistake).

It will return, fully redone.
