I installed the new version on 2 nexus 5 phones (I'm transitioning). One has 4.4.4 and the other 5.1.1.

On the 5.1.1 phone when I download emails the smart folder screen image flutters. Looks like the images briefly overlap.

AM previous version did not do that on the same phone with the same 5.1.1.

FYI just cosmetic.

Sounds like animation - new messages "pushing down" on the already existing ones to make room, then fading in.

Been there in all 1.6.2.* since the early -dev versions, as far as I know

Aha. Hadn't noticed it before when I used the 4.4.4 phone. Maybe I have a different setting in the 5.1.1 phone.

Hi,

I haven't kept up with all of the changes in Aquamail, I just let it update when asked, so don't know when this change occurred but thanks for allowing a click on account name to open the inbox - it used to annoy me that you had to expand the account then click on inbox.

However could you please add a further refinement to this, currently when you click on account name the inbox opens and the account expands, if you click on another account that does the same, leaving the previous one expanded. Could you either (or both) make other accounts collapse when you open another one, or (because there is the expand icon) just leave the account collapsed and show the inbox?

Thanks for the great app, I occasionally look at other email apps to see what they offer but have never removed Aquamail!

 I access directly the Inbox by pressing area (2), if there are unread messages,  while a tap in area (1) opens the folder list. This exists since years, I think.

Thanks but that's what I'd found. I'm mainly using it on a tablet in 2 column mode (under "look and feel") and it seems to work differently than in single column mode, where if you return to the account list they remain unexpanded.

Thanks again, had tried that one and it doesn't make any difference in 2 panel ui mode, just tried in single panel mode and it does do what you'd expect. I'm guessing that this is just something waiting to be updated in the code that handles the 2 panel interface.

In two panel mode, the account which "owns" the folder on the right (the message list) is always expanded to "show where you are".

In other words, WAI (working as intended).

Hi, yes that makes sense but what I find odd is that if you then click a different account, that expands to reflect what is in the right but the previously opened account stays expanded, do it doesn't clearly indicate the link to what is on the right. (Which leads to a large list of expanded account folders on the left, even with just 3 accounts.)

You're proposing that I make it possible to only expand one account at a time, i.e. restrict / limit the UI, are you sure this is what everyone would want?

No, not saying that you restrict it. If someone wants multiple accounts expanded then they can use the expand icon on the left but for quick checking through multiple accounts I thought it would keep the left hand side neater if clicking on the account name makes that the only "active" (expanded) account. I've just found it a bit untidy and take time (OK just a second or two!) to navigate with several accounts expanded, having enabled the bold account names had helped though, as it makes it clearer where each starts/ends.

Yep, I'd realised that would need thinking through, I guess that you'd need to keep track of which way it was opened or work in the other way I suggested - the account names don't expand the account, they just open the inbox. The expand icon is then the way that you expand the account - changing color to highlight the current inbox, I think, enough of an indicator.

I only mentioned it because I used to find what the attached screenshot shows required too much time/thought(!) to find what I want. I have turned off the bold account names option to emphasise my point, though with this on, it does make it much clearer (helped by the fact that the account name can now open the inbox).

Should not be "the" way -- expand / collapse on clicking the whole "parent" item anywhere is a standard Android UI pattern, "ExpandableListView".
