Brand New User - 3 problems
« on: May 05, 2016, 07:41:45 pm »
I first installed this app and was SO excited. Touchdown just got updated and it absolutely horrible. My two favorite things in AquaMail are threaded messages (like on my old BB and iOS) and the ability to see full headers (and have that option stick). When I first installed the app, things looked good except that I was getting multiple notifications on my Galaxy S7 for EACH e-mail. That made the top bar and all the toast messages very messy. So....

Question #1 - How do you combine the notifications to just show one at a time?

Question #2 - Then I started playing with all the settings and I lost the app automatically getting new messages (i.e. push). I use an online Exchange account with Intermedia and will soon be switching to Office365. I have read conflicting things on this forum on whether or not AquaMail supports my setup (http://www.aqua-mail.com/forum/index.php?topic=4424.msg24445#msg24445) but I think it should. I also made sure to enable Push on the main settings level. But I don't have an IMAP option on the account level as described here: http://www.aqua-mail.com/forum/index.php?topic=4583.msg25893#msg25893.

Question #3 - When I first installed the app, conversation view was working perfectly. I still have it enabled but I have two messages in my inbox with the same subject and it isn't showing up as a conversation. I tried to rebuild conversations as well with no luck.

Please guys. This app seems to be the perfect alternative for me (and 4 other coworkers who use androids and Touchdown) but I need to get it working for me first. Thanks so much.

Are you talking about multiple notifications for the same message, or just the fact that you have a single notification for multiple messages?
If it is the latter, - that's how it works.

You might be able to separate them on Samsung phones using an app for the Wear devices (I am not sure, haven't tried that). Actually, AFAIR, on some latest phones, Samsung installs an app for the Wear devices, even if you have no Wear devices connected.
There were 2-3 recent (mid-March) threads where Kostya created and discussed an option in Aquamail to disable Wear extensions. I don't remember if it is enabled or disabled by default. You can try to look how that option is set.
This is one of those threads:

Push doesn't work for Exchange (EWS) accounts. If your Exchange server supports IMAP connection, you can change your account in Aquamail (install as a new account) to have it as an IMAP account. IMAP supports push.
With EWS you need to enable scheduled sync. Set it to 5 minutes and you will get a reasonable behavior.

You may want to read this description of how conversations work in Aquamail:
http://www.aqua-mail.com/forum/index.php?topic=4086.0
In short: the same subject in not sufficient to have a conversation.

@Kostya:
This is not the first question about conversations. I'd suggest to add the explanation referenced above to the FAQ.

StR answered as well as I possibly could, thank you.

Clarifying the issue with notifications:

I assume from your description that you're getting a separate status bar icon / expanded panel for *each* message.

This is a bug in Samsung's system software, and has to do with AquaMail enhancing its notifications for "Android Wear", with the intention that they'd be mirrored by Samsung's Gear app onto a Gear smart watch -- and I can't tell if there actually is a watch or not.

Please use AquaMail settings -> message notifications -> turn OFF "Support for smart watches", and you'll be getting a single icon / panel per *account* not per *message*.

Oh and the default in recent versions is once again "enabled" if there is a Gear app.

I've added information about this bug to the FAQ (and FWIW, never seen it even once on my Samsung S6 or S7, I use both daily).
