Font size while writing emails
« on: February 19, 2016, 09:50:01 am »
I have a problem with the font size during writing. This is too small for me so I can't read it. I couldn't find any possibility into the settings to enlarge the font size of the font size when you write an email. Maybe somebody can help me how to do this.

Paris Geek: I don't think this is a universal or even elegant solution. E.g. I always write plaintext emails,  with an exception of 1-2 messages per year.
And indeed, the font size set in Aquamail does not affect the font size during writing. I don't know if Kostya can do something about it (as it might be an internal Android library), but if he can, it would be great.
(Didn't we discuss this issue recently? I have a déjà vu.)

Paris Geek,

I understood you.
But the OP needs to change how (s)he sees it during writing (emphasis is mine):
I have a problem with the font size during writing. This is too small for me so I can't read it. I couldn't find any possibility into the settings to enlarge the font size of the font size when you write an email. Maybe somebody can help me how to do this.

And my point was that changing the font size (I checked that this morning myself using the volume buttons before my previous posting) does not work in the writing screen (it works while reading messages).
Have you checked it yourself?

Mine is 4.1.2
Aquamail 1.6.1.0-dev4.4-filter-1 (the sweet spot version for me!)

And just in case, explicitly:
The volume hard-buttons are enabled. They work in the message view, message list view, account view (the font size settings in those three views are independent from each other.)
In the compose view the buttons do not work. But it is indeed possible to change the font size in that view via the menu as in Paris Geek's screenshot above.

Kostya:
1. Is it hard to fix this bug (with the volume buttons) for 4.x?

2. I can understand why in principle someone may want different font sizes in the message view and in the account/message list views. But it seems to me that reading and composing would have similar would have similar requirements for the font size. It's just a bit strange; my naive reaction: I've already adjusted font in one place, why do I need to do that on every screen separately?
In any case, this is not a big deal.

I checked on a 4.1 device, it worked fine. It's strange that there is a difference for you vs. the menu.

Anything you can think of? Can you try a brand new message?

Re: separate settings:

Um, don't know, as long as there are separate "per-mode" font size settings, the compose screen should get its own, for consistency.

@Kostya + @StR
I really appreciate it to leave the font size settings as it is currently -> separately for each screen.

Considering that personally, I never use them -- it's just fine with me to keep things as they are.

I am always trying on a new message.
I just noticed what the buttons do: they actually move the cursor forward or backward.

I have a feeling that there might be a setting for that somewhere...  Any idea where that might be?
I  checked system's "accessibility" and "Language and Input", but I don't see it there...

I'd check the keyboard's settings. System settings app -> language and input.

Indeed!
I had checked Language nondescript Input previously but didn't look insidea the keyboard settings.
It (multiling) has settings for "hard buttons ".
Thank you!
