EWS Setup Error
« on: August 22, 2015, 01:28:30 am »
I am having problems with setting up Aqua Mail Pro with EWS.

I first tried autosetup. Didn't work.

Using manual setup, I:

1. Entered my email address and password, then pressed the Manual button.
2. Changed the server name to the correct server, changed to SSL port 993, left authentication at the default "choose automatically", etc.

When I press "Next", I get this error message:

Account check error
Exchange mail server (EWS): Error connecting.
Please make sure the data is correct.

There is an EWS shared mailbox (address) field. I tried putting my email address in there but get the same error.

I can configure using IMAP, however I get frequent login errors because the hosted Exchange Server we use limits the number of IMAP connections.

Any ideas on how to get EWS configured properly?

Thanks very much,

John

Port 993 is the standard IMAP port -- EWS is "web based", so usually if not always port 443 with SSL.

"Shared mailbox" is a specific Exchange feature, not something you should set just for the heck of it.

Your question is impossible to answer in the abstract, without any details.

If it's an Office 365 account, please use Manual setup and enter office365.outlook.com as server name.

If it's not, perhaps it's best to ask your company's friendly and knowledgeable IT people about:

- Whether your corporate server has EWS (Exchange Web Services) enabled, as opposed to ActiveSync

- If it does, what server name (and login, I suppose... may be different) you should be using.

I have the similar problem.
It's my work email, the company's exchange server is vpnmail.sina.com,port 443.AquaMail's error message is "Account Check Error Invalid server response HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found".
But I can send&recieve mails via the pre-installed mail app by the android system.

@Kostya:
Just a thought from my side:
Would it be reasonable to implement a separate option for adding an "Exchange Mail - Office 365" account with their specific server name office365.outlook.com and ports?

There are different ways to connect to Exchange.

Please ask your company's friendly "computer people" if your corporate mail server supports specifically EWS (Exchange Web Services) and if so, what the right settings are (server name and possibly login).

Re: Office 365 "category"

Office 365 usually get auto-discovered quite nicely, in my experience, so just "Exchange (corporate mail)" seems to be fine.

Yes,maybe it's another kind of Exchange(not EWS).Hope Aquamail can support it in the future.

Maybe it's a non-Microsoft Exchange implementation which has no EWS.

But maybe it's Microsoft (the real) Exchange and then it may still have EWS enabled (or not), worth asking.

I've got it, company's Exchange use EAS(Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync) instead of EWS,the pre-installed mail app connected to https://vpnmail.sina.com/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync [nofollow]  ;D

@aiddroid:
AquaMail does not and will not support ActiveSync.

For Exchange, Kostya chose EWS (Exchange Web Services) instead. The reason to go with EWS you will find in various threads. Just use the forum search with keywords "ActiveSync EWS license"...
