Unwanted Recipient in Contact

I have the Setting -> Contact -> Auto Add Contact option unchecked. Every time I type a new recipient address or respond to an address which is not in my Contact App, Aqua Mail adds it to my Contact App, resulting in a lot of unwanted email addressed in my Contact App.
How do I stop that?

If the option is unchecked, then it's something else doing it.

For example, Gmail / web, if you use that? They have a setting to turn it off (also on the web site).
