Font typeface options are "generic": sans, serif, mono.

They're encoded like this:

   public static final String HTML_FONT_FAMILY_SANS = "font-family: Arial, Myriad, 'Liberation Sans', sans-serif;";
   public static final String HTML_FONT_FAMILY_SERIF = "font-family: 'Times New Roman', Times, 'Liberation Serif', serif;";
   public static final String HTML_FONT_FAMILY_MONO = "font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, 'Liberation Mono', monospace;";

with specific font mappings for Windows, Mac and Linux.

I could make the change to Calibri, but then someone would complain about "where did Arial go"?

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I think you can add a fourth option, to have "Calibri" font... and i think that "Calibri" is so important because it makes Aqua Mail near Microsoft Outlook users...

Hi All,
May I also register a vote for Calibri?  Also think it makes email appear like Microsoft Outlook 2010.

As mentioned by Kostya in his post above for the (already implemented) FONT_FAMILY_SANS "Arial" is more common than "Calibri".

Regards,
Please reread Kostya's post carefully.

There are only 3 (three) " generic" Font typeface options available: sans, serif, mono.

Sans = Arial
Serif = Times New Roman
Mono = Courier

Nothing else...

I'm just curious --

I understand that some companies have a "policy" -- all corporate email, even internal, has to be in Calibri 11pt (or you get thrown off a tall building).

Here is my question:

What does this policy say about mobile mail apps then?

If even Microsoft's own Outlook (nee Accompli) doesn't have any formatting capabilities?

"No mobile mail apps ever", is that what the policymakers are saying?

Just curiosity, nothing else...

Hi,

The answer is so simple, we want "Calibri", to be more standard with Microsoft and with our "Standard" mail company.
Because if we use "Calibri" in Aquamail, no one will see that our mail is sent from a mobile, but when reading mail with "Calibri", everybody will think that this is a normal mail from Microsoff Outlook in Windows.

Thanks for understand.

Curiousier and curiousier.

And the reason for hiding that a message was sent from a mobile mail app is --

- Because there is a corporate policy prohibiting the use of mobile mail apps?

What if you get fired for breaking this policy?

- Or you don't want people outside the company to know?

Because they'll think "oh, those guys respond to mail on mobile devices, clearly they're not worthy of us doing business with them"?

---

Anyway, I find the whole thing funny and sad at the same time, sorry!

Hi Kostya,
i found your very good app looking for an email app that looks like MS Outlook.
Anyway i noticed that some things could be improved, so i would try to write you my ideas.

  • In quoting header format i set MS Outlook style, but i noticed the format is not like latest outlook 2013/2016. Here the photo:

    It is in italian language. First block is MS outlook 2013/2016. Second block is aquamail.
    What i mean is: line separator is different, subject should be latest, "Date" field should be "Sent", date formatting is different, and there is no alignment in Outllook.
    I think these changes could be simple for you, or at least i hope
  • Calibri font: i know you can't include this font in your app for licensing issue, and i know you can't change default three types. My idea would be add a four option "Custom font", maybe text field, so people can write each font they want. Obviously we will have to install it by ourself to have it working. Maybe you can use internally a default (hidden to us), so if we write wrong name all is working anyway
  • default color font in sending: we can set font type, we can set font size, it would be great we can even set default font color when sending. Maybe a field as #xxxxxx would be great and working for any needs

I'm a sw developer too, and i know getting a lot of requests from our customers is frustrating, but sometime accepting these requests is a good thing for both.
Believe me that the above changes would make a lot of people happy, that would be a great value for your app, even for monetizing more. I would buy it for sure, even more of the actual price, and I can be sure that like me there are a lot of other people looking for an email app "MS Outlook desktop" style.
Your app will better than MS Outlook app itself.

I hope you can take into consideration my post.

Thank you.

@Kostya,

To avoid users' anger (those who do not use outlook 2006 and they'll consider that new build destroyed their app), please add a third choice "like Outlook 2006" and leave the two current ones  :)

Good idea. Maybe better add a third option "like Outlook 2013+", so current user's configs can be leaved untouched.

To avoid user anger, I'm just not going to do anything.

It's "close enough", and trying to mimic Outlook *exactly* or *as close as possible*, and going as far as trying to match *specific versions* is *ridiculous*.

If there are "corporate standards" requiring the use of Outlook and Outlook only -- then one should not be using AquaMail at all (or K9 Mail, or Gmail, or Mail Droid, etc).

If it's to mask the fact that one is "not at his/her desk" -- some silly corporate policy again?

Bottom line, the way I see it:

Either it's "acceptable" (by such corporate policies, etc.) to be working at a Starbucks, and to be using a mobile mail app -- or it's not.

And if it's not, well, what do I have to do with it?
