Repeat notification only for "orange circle"

  Hello!

 There is so many options to specify the notification to arrive of announce new message, but it missing the most important one.
Please tell me why we cannot get notification repeatedly only when new email arrive and I did not check the AquaMail yet?
In other simple words: Is possible to get repeat (on every synchronization) notification ONLY when an orange circle in AquaMail widget is shown.

In other more complex words, please imagine scenario:

• No messages, no notification, synchronization every 5 minutes.
• New message arrive, system checking the mail box, there is a message so there is a notification.
• No action from the user, after 5 minutes, next synchronization, notification repeats, because user did not enter to the AquaMail yet, so he/she is not aware about the new message, he/she did not hear the notification. The AquaMail widget shows 1 new message in orange circle on the right.
• User still did not hear the notification sound so after next 5 minutes notification repeats.
• This time user was near the device and heard the notification. The user runs the AquaMail and see some email, but decide it is nothing urgent, so just leave the AquaMail software without opening the message.
• So there is still one unread message in the mail box, but this time AquaMail widget correctly show digit 1 in blue circle, that user is aware that new message.
• Next 5 minutes past, synchronization, no new messaged arrived past last time, so still we have one unread message, but no new messages. At that point no notification is require, AquaMail do not perform any action to notify the user about that unread message.
• Now the new message arrive, we have 2 unread message and 1 new message, the AquaMail widget shows digit 2 in orange circle. Correct, there are two unread message with one new message. The notification should sound again, because user need to know about new message.
• No action from the user, so after next 5 minute there is consecutive synchronization, so there is notification sound raised, there is new message in the mailbox.
• The notification sounds every 5 minutes until user run the AquaMail client and at least look at the messages, at that point the AquaMail widget changes the orange circle to blue one.

I was not able to configure AquaMail to fulfill above scenario. Maybe I did not found appropriate setting option. Please let me know how can I get this functionality. For me it is essential. Without this way of notification we are missing important messages, or we need to mark all messages to read state in order to stop unnecessary repeat notifications.

This should work: in app settings under notifications:

notify about -> all unread messages

only when new messages -> enabled

only when there are changes -> disabled

Or you may want to set notify about -> new unread messages, then it'll work "just like Gmail"

 Thank you for your respond.
The proposed settings seems the most suitable for my situation but to my surprise there is no notification repetition after consecutive synchronization events.
Maybe it is because of PUSH function enabled on all my e-mail accounts.
Meanwhile, I am going to make next tests. This time the test scenarios are narrow down to presented setting. I hope I will get to the root of the problem for my case.

I have done many tests and unfortunately I have to declare it as a bug
AquaMail currently does not have repeat notification option working.
An half year ago I am pretty sure it was possible to set it up, but now after a few software updates it is not possible any more.

Please note that a programs like Telegram, Handcent SMS and others have repeat notification function [when user do not respond for incoming message].
AquaMail should had have too.

The following settings in AquaMail -> Message notification group

• Notify about -> all unread messages
• Only when new messages -> enabled
• Only when there are changes -> disabled
• Play sound only once -> disabled

should notify the user repeatedly until he/she open the mail agent, but the repetition does not occur.

Ohh, "bug" written in ORANGE!!! And BOLD!!! NOOOO!!!!

Do you clear the initial status bar notification and expect a new one to show in the status bar?

OR

Do you NOT clear the status bar notification, and expect the notification to remain there, but the sound (is there a sound?) or vibration (vibration?) to play again after next mail check?

  Hi!

 According to my scenario steps, I do not engage any action towards status bar notification handling.
During the waiting for next repeat notification, system is locked. This is the most common case, when we are not at the device when e-mail arrives. We should be inform about new message as soon we are near device without checking the notification status bar.

 Clearing the notification status bar message can be also information for the system the user is aware new messages (no notification repetition after that point is needed), but for me entering to AquaMail client is sufficient.

I cannot agree more! LED indicator is very good for that.
However, please consider that not all devices has LED indicator. In mutter of facts, taking in account all Android devices (phones, tablets, media players like Measy B4A,...), not many have that facility.

Moreover, the sound is more communicative and omnidirectional. LED is like smoke signals, you have to look directly on it and wait to read "whole message".
With sound you can even sleep and hear that sound in your dream

Ok, I just tested notification settings like in the screenshot:

Only when new messages - OFF
Only when there are changes - OFF
Play sound only once - OFF

The app will play a sound every time it checks mail and there are unread messages -- so you'll get a reminder on next mail check.

Thank you for investigating the issue.
Unfortunately your last proposition is still not what that thread is try to accomplish.
In your above suggested configuration AquaMail will be repeating notification whenever the unread messages will be present with no care if its new unread message or old one, which the user is already aware.

Please read the main topic of that thread: Repeat notification only for "orange circle".

"Orange circle" (in widget icon) means new messages, that users did not check. When user go into AquaMail the circle turns blue, but still there can be unread messages in the mail box.

This is very important because it would be annoying clicking "make as ready" every time system get new message.
