No, not orientation related, as my phone is always in portrait.  I just upgraded Aquamail on my stock Nexus 7 - Gen 2 and I'm seeing the same thing.

I also noticed reports on the Google+ site of others seeing the same thing.

Thanks!

If I leave AquaMail running, the cursor will never stop spinning (OK, I didn't test "never," but I did leave it for 10 minutes).  Sometimes, if I exit AM, when I re-launch it, the cursor is still spinning, other times the cursor is gone completely and doesn't reappear even when a new Sync occurs.

so:

a) no (unless you exit the app at least once)
b) n/a
c) n/a

I assume this means: start refreshing a folder, minimize the app with Home key, return via the launcher icon after the folder's done synching.

Correct?

Just tried it on a Note 3, no luck...

Yes, that's correct.  My one POP3 folder from one account takes very little time to sync, but the cursor will spin forever.

Sometimes, like you, I don't see it.  I'm trying to figure out a fully reproducible case, but can't yet.

One thing I have noticed is that whenever the cursor is small, it won't stick on, when it is large it does.  Still can't figure out why it's big sometimes and small other times, or what causes it.  The small cursor is always immediately to the left of the word "Loading" but the big cursor is just centered horizontally in the screen.

Will continue to investigate.

I already posted the large circle on page 1 of this thread.  I can't get the small circle in a screenshot, as it happens quite quickly.  I've tried, but I'm too old and slow to press Sync in AM then press the correct key combination to generate a screenshot; I've tried.

Edit: There's hope for me yet, I got it using palm swipe on the Note.  Attached are both screenshots:

Yes, I disable the FAB as I prefer to have the Refresh, NewEmail, Search and Select all buttons always visible.

I will disable and see if I can reproduce the issue.

Thanks!

Thanks. It's becoming a little clearer.

Do you or did you also rotate the phone (landscape / portrait), maybe the app is in portrait, and the home screen in landscape?

Or everything always in portrait?

Everything is always in portrait.  Every once in a while, when viewing pictures (not in AM), I will allow for rotation, but rotation is locked to portrait on the Note.

Thanks.

P.S.  Since I got this release of AM, the Note has always been locked to portrait mode.

I just posted a new dev build with an attempted fix.

http://www.aqua-mail.com/forum/index.php?topic=3010.0

"Attempted" because I still was not able to reproduce.

Please try it out and let me know if it's any different.

Thanks!  Trying it now, so far, so good, but I'll keep testing.

Even with build 1.5.1-25.4-dev7.2.3 it's the same behavior as before.

With enabled FAB and in portrait mode:
* The "spinning wheel" is located in the middle of the first message
* Sync time by using "pull to refresh" within each folder/subfolder is quite normal
* refresh in Smart Folder naturally takes much longer because AquaMail is syncing all account folders.
Means sync time is really acceptable at least for me.
