Slide down notification bar delete function
« on: November 04, 2014, 07:07:18 pm »
I do not know if this is something that has changed in Aqua Mail, on my android Samson Galaxy SIII, or even a function that I inadvertantly switched off. Until a short time ago when I used to receive a new email notification I could slide down my notification bar, and delete the email from there, I seemed to have lost this functionality. Does anyone know how to get this functionality back.

Thanks

Check app settings -> message notifications -> make sure "privacy" is *disabled* (privacy -> no message content -> no sense to have status bar actions).

Since one of the last two or three updates (I don't exactly remember which one started the issue) I'm having the exact same problem. Privacy is disabled and all three of the buttons are selected to be shown but don't appear in the slide-down notifications. This was one of my favorite features in AquaMail, it'd be a pitty if we couldn't get it back to work.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

I got a few reports about it, but can't reproduce on any of my phones or tablets... I mean any difference compared to older versions.

But please be aware that Android can "collapse" notifications with buttons or message previews, hiding the buttons.

To expand a collapsed notification, pull down the notification area, and "zoom out" the notification, with two fingers, horizontally.

If this makes the buttons show -- it means Aqua did put them there, but Android decided to collapse them.

Happens to all apps, including Google's own, depending on how crowded the notification area is (since Android 4.1 where this feature debuted).

I can confirm that on my own phone (Galaxy Note 3) the message notification pull-down item includes both "Move to Deleted" and "Mark read" options.

Oh, and one other thing.

A notification may be "about" a different number of messages.

When it's more than one, there is only room to show "sender / subject" for up to five.

When there is more than five, Aqua will not show those action buttons -- because it doesn't make sense to delete (or even mark read) messages that the user is unable to see.

So:

- One message -> message text previews -> action buttons

- Two to five messages -> previews of sender / subject -> action buttons

- More than five messages -> previews of sender / subject of first five + "+N more" subtitle below -> no action buttons
