Backup quick response? Not?
« on: June 13, 2014, 05:18:56 pm »
I recently had to restore my account settings. This was because of hardware failure on my old tablet (affecting only GPS, fortunately).
As your app cannot access Dropbox (etc.), or vice versa, it was a slightly roundabout job to move the backup from one device to the other (reported elsewhere), with email not yet working. Doable, though.
But:
I also found that "quick response" strings that in my case have various versions of my full name and address, phone numbers, etc., but for others may include legal disclaimers, etc., were not restored, either because they were not backed up, or for some other reason.
Is this by design, or did I goof?

I think this should be backed up. And I will not be angry if developer implements Backup Scheduler :D or atleast add Share button to share AquaMail's backup...

Do you want to use the latest AquaMail version?
Try AquaMail Updater!

@beaky --

1 - Someone else mentioned some sort of issue with DropBox (it was along the lines of "your app prevents DropBox from accessing its folder), but I'm not sure what to think of it -- yes, there is no "share settings to dropbox", but other than that, it's just a folder, and you should be able to save settings to a folder that's synced by dropbox.

2 - I'll look into the quick responses issue

Can't reproduce the quick responses being lost in backup / restore.

Please be sure to tick the "App settings" checkbox (when backing up and restoring), as quick responses fall under app settings.

perhaps I goofed. I did not change any settings, so if app settings is checked by default, it was checked; if clear by default, clear; but if it remembers how it was set last time, I really cannot say how it was set.

thanks

Now, about dropbox -- I added support for copying Aqua's backup file to / from dropbox with a single button... Look for a new build tonight.

to clarify my earlier reference to Dropbox:
yes, I could copy backups to Dropbox in one action, but could not retrieve them from Dropbox into the correct folder. it could be done in two steps, as I could copy files from Dropbox to the downloads folder.
I will try the new build.

Right, I forgot that DropBox on mobiles isn't necessarily set to sync with a file system folder, it's more of a "get files as you need them" thing.

@Kostya,
I couldn't find that "single button" to backing up / restore "app seetings"... maybe I overlooked something or is it available only on Andriod 4.4.x "KitKat"!?

@mikeone, you should  be connected to Dropbox with a valid account on your device, to be able to see the button.

@Paris Geek, Now I got it. Thank you  :)
