Message notifications for BCC
« on: April 11, 2014, 05:54:29 pm »
Good afternoon, I've been using Aquamail for a while and am very impressed with it. I have 2 questions/issues that I'd be grateful for some help with:

1. I have set up for each message to be BCC to myself but would prefer it not to register as a new message when it goes into inbox as this triggers an new message notification. Is it possible for BCC messages to arrive as read?

2. Maybe this is linked, but I get a new message notification when the All Mail folder syncs if it's still showing as unread in the inbox. I've tried experimenting with the new mail notification settings - and now have it set to only flag up new mail when there is no unread notification already - but this doesn't always work.

I'd be grateful for any tips.

Many thanks

Cath

Hi Paris Geek

Thanks for your reply.  I'm using 1.3.8 which, having checked, looks to be the most recent build.  Is that right?

Thanks

Cath

1.3.8 is the most recent published on Google Play.

AquaMail is evolving every day (that's why I'm so loving this app). Today (April 11), last build is 1.3.26.7.
You can find it here http://www.aqua-mail.com/download
Hi Paris,
sorry, but does the list you link contains unlocker APK?
I paid for the license and it is rightly so.

have a nice evening

Yes, the unlocker APK is here, but you have to purchase the license to make it work.

Hi Paris Geek - are you saying that you have to buy a new licence every time you install an update...?

Thanks

Hi,
you must pay the license but you can update the client app, not the unlock app. And when you update Aquamail, your license is valid everytime

@Fcasoli, @Paris Geek -- thank you for your clarifications.

I don't have a good solution for item 1 -- the app right now does not "do" anything with messages when it receives them. And incoming messages are initially unread (as far as how servers treat them).

If your mail server / system supports server side message rules (many do), that's what I would recommend... marking incoming messages from yourself as read, or have them moved into a separate folder, maybe.

It's also try that "bcc to self" is not the only way to save your sent messages. An IMAP or EWS server is capable of saving them in its respective folder (and this is usually configured by Aqua during initial setup).

And just to add my two cents on the unlocker:

- The download directory has copies of the unlocker apps, but they don't actually do anything without a purchase (Google Play or PayPro).

If someone installs one, it won't do much good without an actual purchase. This is not a hole in license validation, and does not rob anyone of what they've purchased.

- For those who've purchased the "pro" unlockers, installing a development build keeps existing activation. It's not necessary to update the unlocker at the same time.

- For those running the free version, installing a development build does not activate the app to full version.

Thank you all very much for your suggestions and input.

The server side rule has fixed the incoming message being marked as read.  (I need the BCC message to be in my inbox as the ultimate place I store my emails is Outlook, via POP3 as I use Mailwasher to check over e-mail before downloading, hence am not using IMAP which would resolve the issue another way, I know!)

Many thanks
