Eye-controlled functions
« on: May 26, 2016, 10:25:33 pm »
Reading some other suggestions ( http://www.aqua-mail.com/forum/index.php?topic=2244.msg27062#msg27062 ) got me thinking about what new "disruptive-technology" type of functionality could Aquamail have.
I thought that it might be very efficient if it could track my eye motion: I look at the message, while closing my left eye, holding that, and then with my right eye look at the trash-can icon, and the message is deleted.
Alternatively, after "holding" the message, I can just swipe my head to the left to delete it.
That would be Really CoolTM!
(If you don't know, - "Eye-controlled focus" is the feature on Canon (D)SLRs for many years until ~2013. )

Then I thought: what if my eye twitched...
... So, I realized that I am too conservative to want that feature.  ::)

PS. I am almost certain that in a few years, there will be [at least an attempt of] such a feature in one of the next-generation VR devices.

Similar to that, and already done:

Samsung had this tech, forget what it was called, where they would detect the user sliding their hand over the screen and an app could know that.

It detected four major directions, and AquaMail used it to flip/swipe through messages.

It was only supported by a Note 2 (if my memory serves) and then the Note 3 didn't have that again so I removed the code around then. Still supported for taking screenshots, but not exposed to apps.

It was annoying like you wouldn't believe.

PS - Samsung (r) AirView(tm) maybe?

If I understood that feature correctly, - it exists in Samsung's tablet (Galaxy something, 10" - I forgot what model I have). I disabled that option in the system settings (not sure its API is exposed to apps).
