Color of the tiles

Is there a meaning of the tiles colors in the inbox?

Or are the colors of the tiles completely random?

Tiles == triangular shaped things on the left? Initially random, but you can assign your own. Please see the FAQ.

No, sorry.

The square ones in the inbox with the first letter of the sender.
When there ist no picture of the sender.

Sometimes they are red, sometimes green or yellow or other color.

Has the different color any importance or is the color random?

Ah, those. No, random, picked from the Android Holo Colors palette.

They are be consistent over time for same sender, though.
