unread counter issue with Apex and KitKat 4.4.2
« on: January 20, 2014, 09:29:36 pm »
Hi,

I cannot visualize unread counter in my home, I have AquaMail active in Apex Notifier, but the counter is not visible, the same setting in S4 Mini with Android 4.2.2, but visible in this device.

Could that be due to 4.4.2?

thanks

Константин, у меня та же проблема на LG G2  с 4.4.2
Apex пишет, что моё email-приложение не поддерживается :-(

В чём может быть проблема?

I just installed: Apex Launcher + Apex Launcher Pro Key + Apex Notifier and it just worked.

This is a Samsung Galaxy S4 with 4.4.2 (custom ROM based on stock - Omega - highly recommended).

All I had to do was enable "Notification settings" and "External Notifiers" in Apex Launcher settings.

I'm not seeing anything about AquaMail in Apex Notifier settings -- and I don't expect to, since Aqua has built-in support for Apex.

I think the most important part was enabling the top-right "toggle" setting on the "notification settings" screen (black, above).

Um, I'm not seeing the "black" settings screen -- which I think is the most important part -- "Notification settings" in Apex Launcher itself.

The blue toggle thing, upper right, has to be enabled (saying "On") -- and the "External notifiers" checkbox has to be enabled (checked) as well.

As for the screenshot with "Your Email app is not supported": I am unable to identify how that error message comes about, but Aqua requires absolutely no configuration on that screen, which is the settings for Apex Notifier.

1 - Apex Notifer just needs to be installed.
2 - Apex Launcher Pro has to have the blue toggle "On" and "External notifiers" checked.

The error "application not supported" appears when you launch the Notifier app directly from app drawer or from the Apex settings (screenshot enclosed), and try to checkbox the Email option.
I reinstalled the Notifier, but it did not help :-(

At this point I'm inclined to ask you to contact support for Apex Launcher.

Feel free to collect a debug log in Aqua, though (see the links below). If you do, I'll need you to capture refreshing an account, preferably with unread messages in it.

I'm using Nova for this reason. Chaton also shows the same problem with Apex.

@sherrie -- Thanks for the log. I can see the app sending the unread count to Apex -- the rest is up to it.

One thing I remembered only now is that Aqua has to be installed *after* Apex, so it can get the permission to send those updates. This is how the developer of Apex set it up.

Exactly! Backuped account, reinstalled Aquamail, restored account and the notification works perfectly  ;D

Good. If this is an issue for you -- feel free to ask the developer of Apex to remove the permission, "com.anddoes.launcher.permission.UPDATE_COUNT".
