Notification and sync problem

Hi,

first of all thank you for this wonderful app. Finally I've found something decent to sort my emails!

I use the pro version.

I will try to describe the thing is happening to me but english is not my primary language so plase be patient.

I've four accounts: yahoo, gmail, hotmail and the one I use at work.

I've set the sync time 30 mins for all except yahoo that is 5 mins because it is the account I use often.

Everything goes well when I'm on wi-fi or fast network like 3G or HDSPA.
Sometimes I'm on EDGE network  and everything is slower. The account I use at work has a LOT of folders and it take time to sync them all (but I want it), it take sometimes more than 5 mins under the EDGE network so this is what happens: it begins to sync, after 5 mins the sync is interrupted and acquamail begins to sync the yahoo account because it is set to be synchronyzed every 5 mins. The result is:

- the sync on the work account is not completed, not all folders are updated.
- even if there was new messages in the folders it completes to sync, I do not get the correspondent notifications
- the two account that are after in the account list never got synchronized

Now I've set the sync time for yahoo to 10 mins and everything runs well. Maybe you could use a sort of queue so that if one account has not finished to sync and another account request to be synchronized because the sync time is shorter it should be queued until all the sync started are finished...

Yes, it's basically a queue of sorts and yes, tasks can step on each other. I'm not sure there is a good solution.

However, please try the latest development build:

If your work server support IMAP CONDSTORE extension (many do), checking all those folders should go a lot faster when there are no actual change in them (and I expect that with a short time period, not all folders have changes all the time).

Thank you for your reply, yes, only few folders get changes so it will be great if it could be faster in folders without changes.

Just let me know if I install the development version, it will update the one I've on the phone maintaining all my settings or it will install a second app? In the case I should have problems is it possible to downgrade the app to the previous stable version?

Sorry for the delay. I just checked Yahoo server capabilities, and regrettably, it does not support the CONDSTORE extension.

that's not a problem because my work email server is microsoft exchange, not yahoo. My yahoo email is for private use and has only few folder.

So please let me know if I can install the development version without modify the current one

Yes, it's possible to install development versions over released version, keeping all data, messages, settings, folders, etc.

A development version *should* also get subsequent updates from Play (unless Play has a bad hair day...)

Hi,

I noticed another case I think it should be keep in consideration:

I've 4 accounts, when I'm reading email on one of them, everything I do is synched immediately (for example, if I read an unread message it will be synched) if this happens while the app is synching another account it will stop the process so the other account remain unsynched until the next scheduled sync.
If a sync is incomplete I think it should remember it and try to sync again until the sync is done, not waiting for the next scheduled sync...
