AquaMail resets default apps to open attachments

AquaMail asks to choose default app for every kind of attachment. Press "Always" and the users' choice is set in memory. However, once I use a file manager or simple app "Downloads", I am asked to make choice again. Once I do and come back to AquaMail to open atachment, it asks me to make a choice again. Just default app is remembered eiher in AquaMail or in file manger, and they switch this option every time it's used. Very annoying.

The default app is remembered by the operating system. AquaMail has no way to affect it.

Well, whatever reason is, OS remembers default apps to open files in FileManager (TotalCommander as well), in Downloads, even to open downloads in webbrowser. The happy story ends when it comes to open attachment in AquaMail, I'm asked to make a new choice, once I do OS forgets default app and corresponding record "No Default App" turns on in DefaultAppManager.

Well, I'm deeply sympathetic about it, but...

...the "default app" setting is internal to the system, and if opening an attachment in AquaMail resets it, then that's some unfortunate side effect somewhere, as there is no way for an app to change the default even for itself, let alone other apps.

I cannot find the settings place to change this.....it is something I set, I am sure.  QQ will not open the document.  It needs to be Word which I have on the android device.

Those are in system settings under apps --> open details for the one you want to "stop being the default app" -> press "Clear default".

Contrary to the name, this does not mean "reset this app to default settings or data" but means "reset the remembered choice of this app as the default for certain types of user actions, and prompt the user again next time".
