Notification delivered on one device only, instead of all
« on: November 29, 2013, 07:53:57 pm »
Hello

I have two Android devices (smartphone + tablet) with Aqua Mail, both configured identically against a single IMAP email account. Push is enabled.

If the tablet is switched off, and a new email is sent towards my account, I regularly receive an immediate notification on my smartphone.

If both devices (smartphone + tablet) are switched on, and a new email is sent towards my account, I receive the notification **only on the tablet**.  I would expect to get the notification on both devices.

I would like to know if this behavior is expected, or if there is something wrong.

Again, the configuration settings on both devices perfectly coincide.

Thank you very much in advance.

No, this is not how it should work... With IMAP, both devices should sync with the server, seeing same message changes.

Not sure how best to debug this...

When both devices are on, does the "second" device receive those messages, just in a read state, perhaps?

Can you open web mail and monitor what goes on there? Does the first device downloading a message cause it to be deleted from the server (just another wild guess, this app doesn't do it on its own)?

Hi,

I am now having the same problem with my Nexus 4 and Nexus 10. I have been using AquaMail for some months on both devices without problems, but over the past few days I have not been receiving any message notifications on the N4. Settings  on both devices are identical (IMAP push, audible and LED notifications), but the only way I know now if I have mail on the phone is by refreshing the inboxes.

This is a very recent problem, and I don't think that it coincided with the Kit Kat update. Any help would be much appreciated.

@rikfr - sounds like the app does not receive mail at all over push, correct?

Is the "push" status bar icon still there, on both devices?

Can you try (in AquaMail) disabling push (as a test, to fall back on scheduled mail checks)? This in app settings under Mail, receiving.

Can you also check the device's "memory cards" for the crash log (log-AquaMail-crash.txt) and if found, email to kmansoft / gmail?
