Automatic setup for Office 365 and Exchange Online.

So far, just mail sync. Server side contact lookup should come soon, full contact and calendar sync to be added somewhat later.

Mail sync: read/unread/flagged state sync both ways, access to folders, moving messages between folders, all three ways of deleting messages, sending (of course), attachment and inline preload, server side text search.

Meeting invites right now come through as regular text messages (not invites proper). I'm hoping to fix this by Monday.

My test environment is Exchange Online, just one account, so I'm sure there will be compatibility issues. Please report them by email or here, I'm going to subscribe to this thread.

Exchange 2007SP1 or higher is required (released November 2007). The original Exchange 2007 version without any service packs is not supported and won't be.

Kerio is not supported and won't be, based on what I've ran into.

tried to set up with my exchange server and get the error, "Exchange mail server (EWS): Authentication error. HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized. Please make sure the data is correct".

In the setup:

Server type: EWS

Server name: my server for work

Security type: SSL (Accept any)    Server port: 443


These settings work in the Android stock email program .

Stock Android Email uses ActiveSync, not EWS.

Can you ask your network admins if your office server supports EWS?

And if it does, what kind of authentication it requires, NTLM by any chance?

The server only supports activesync. Will aquamail support activesync?

ActiveSync - no, never, because of MS's complicated licensing requirements.

I chose EWS because it's license free and also much more commonly enabled than IMAP/SMTP (when those are off).

Sorry to hear EWS not enabled on your particular server.

Hi, I just installed that version, and treated EWS. It  logs in to server, download my folders and messages in it. I can read messages, without any problems. But when I try to send a message there comes info Error sending outgoing messages: invalid server response. Do you have any ideas why, and how to solve it?

Thanks for the feedback. I could investigate if you recorded a debug log (with "raw data" enabled). Please the link in my signature.

@PTskiturns - Kerio will not be supported by the EWS protocol implementation, no changes for IMAP / SMTP / POP3.

Thanks for the hard work on this. Two questions about Exchange accounts:

Is there a way to get incoming mail by push when it arrives?  I can only find settings to retrieve mail on a time schedule.

Also, is there a way to set up a one·way synch of the trash and sent folders? When I send or delete a message on the phone, I want it to go into the appropriate Exchange folder. But I don't want to use data to sych the contents of those folders back to the phone.

Hello,

There is no push for EWS at this time. I'm just trying to get the basics to work now.

On your second question - no, sync means sync. In terms of traffic, 1) I'm using compression, and 2) attachment preload is off for the Deleted folder (and the spam folder too).

I'll be posting an update tonight with some important fixes.

To elaborate a bit:

Next tasks for EWS:

- Handling of calendar events on par with IMAP / POP3: receive, respond
- Server side contact lookup

When this is done, I'll release an update.

Possible EWS tasks for the future: calendar and contact sync (AquaMail will have to integrate into the device's account list), access to global contact directory (in Exchange, this is separate from the user's personal contact book), fast forwarding with attachments (without having to download them first), push mail.

However, my next priority after the release is to work on the UI for a while, to implement the fashionable swipe actions and a few other smaller things. Then I can come back to Exchange (although message threading is also a popular request).
