lag problems with Swype keyboard

Hi,

composing messages, Swype gets increasingly laggy -- to the extent that traces aren't shown/words are missed.  This doesn't happen on any other app, stock or added.  Could there be some kind of cpu hogging going on?

Galaxy S2
Swype 1.6.2.22328 (and previous version, both from play store)
Aquamail 1.2.5.5 (paid)
Neat Rom Lite 4.8 XWLSW/Android 4.1.2

Thanks in advance -- easily the best mailer I've used on Android, so hoping this can be fixed!

I'm afraid you're not going to like my answer, but...

Just tried Swype 1.6.3.22544 on a Samsung Galaxy S4 (stock ROM), this is the closest I have to your setup... and didn't notice any lagging. I was sure to try actual swyping / gesture input. No lagging on a Galaxy Nexus, which is a noticeably slower device...

Can you update to the current version and see if this fixes things?

Oh, and since you're running a custom ROM, maybe you can try clearing the Dalvik cache?
