Remove notification/LED if mailbox returns to original state
« on: December 18, 2012, 02:20:55 pm »
Hi there,
I just got a Samsung Galaxy S3, my first Android phone, and was glad to stumble upon Aqua Mail.

I frequently check my email on my laptop while I also have my phone in my pocket, not surprisingly.
So I'll get the audio notification on my Galaxy S3, go and read and file the email on the computer, and then the inbox goes back to the state it was in before - say, 5 unread messages and two starred ones.

I've noticed that Aqua Mail will alter its notification text to reflect that the new email was filed. It would be nice if it could keep track of what I've "seen" and stop notifying if I've already attended to the incoming messages.

Does this make sense? What happens otherwise is that I have to clear the notification on the phone (in fact, I have to click on it to open Aqua before it really accepts I've seen it), because otherwise the green LED just keeps flashing.

After a few days of use, this is literally the only problem I have with Aqua Mail! Its IMAP IDLE support is excellent, as are all the options and the widget.

Thank you for your comments.

The notification will be removed if you mark all your messages as read.

The unread state is synced across devices, but your activity is not.

As far as my app is concerned, there are still two new unread messages, because you haven't opened the app to see them.

OK, fair enough, that makes sense. It's a minor thing.
Thanks for the reply!
