Very nice of you and I can see why the other poster ask for smaller. My eye wear is a +200 prescription and I need a little help to see it better for me. My best friend eyes are the opposite of mine so he makes his fonts very, very small....so with that how you worked it out was best...

Hi,

I just purchased unlock key and I saw with interest these dev builds with font editing in emails i.e formatted text, so I have upgraded from the current Google Play release.

I've been testing it but I cannot get any new emails to compose then send as formatted text, the always arrive as just plain text with the source as:

AquaMail/1.2.4.44 (build: 2100336)
Subject: Without a signature
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8"; format=flowed
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

This is a test

I've tried sending to both my personal mail server (MDaemon + WebMail) and to my company server (Exchange + Outlook) ad they both do the same, with or without a signature enabled. The main setting under "Composing and sending" are "Formatted vs. plain text" = "Formatted text" and I even set the text size (when sending) to "10pt".

P.S. Whenever I tried to use the "Insert Code" in this forum, it kept telling me "Sorry, you are not allowed to post external links", which I wasn't just the text above.

And if so, do you tap one of the styling buttons when there is no selection yet (i.e. tap Bold, start typing, expecting to see bold text from that point on)?

If my guesses are correct, yes, there is an issue in this case on Android 2.* (an bug in system level text handling code).

If you select text before applying styling, it'll work.

I've got an update with a workaround for later tonight (hopefully).

Appreciate that, I also run a forum myself, but in my case I wasn't adding any links just the code tags around the text.

Anyway, do you know why I'm having the issue with formatted text?

Oh, do you switch to formatted text? The default for new messages is plain (so either use Menu / Switch to formatted text or app settings under Composing and Sending to make it the default).

Nope, I'm on Android 4.3 on a Galaxy Nexus I'm afraid. When I compose the styling buttons are there, but if I just type some text (no change of any styling, just use the default), the email is still sent as plain text.

But there is styling i.e. I want it sent with the default font/size/colour - this is how all other email clients work.

Default color? What's that? Same for font, what is it? Where would they come from if there is no styling?

As for your "all other" generalization -- when I send a message using Gmail / web mail, if there is no formatting, it's sent as plain text.

Now there is a default size setting for outgoing HTML messages (if specified), but I that doesn't seem to me like a good enough reason either.

Mail apps on the receiving side are perfectly capable of dealing with plain text messages, so I'm not sure what you think you're losing.

Doesn't change anything as far as I'm concerned, though.

I really don't understand why you'd want text with no styling to be sent as HTML, and what you're missing when it's sent as text/plain.
