I posted this item originally as a followup to someone's possibly unrelated problem.
Wonder if it is a bug or I maybe have some IMAP settings wrong.
To reproduce problem:
Where default number of loaded emails is 25, select any of the latest 25 and I can operate normally: expected behaviour.
Now scroll past the first 25, say to number 40 , 60, 70 (exact number not critical).
If that email has unloaded content (images, etc), tap to load this content:
Often, usually in fact, I am suddenly viewing the most recent email (no 1 from the top).
My mail server is on 1und1.de and is IMAP.
My tablet is google nexus 10 Running jelly-bean.
I am reading 3 accounts. one is high volume - maybe 20 messages/day, the others very low volume - zero to two/day. I note that when you read the combined inbox it is not possible to scroll past no 25 anyway (acceptable), so the problem I describe is only apparent when reading an individual inbox on the busiest account.
My original post was in response to someone who had set unread messages to list first, but I do not do that, I just have them in date order. There does not have to be a new message loaded for the problem to occur. It can occur several times in a minute so is not the 15 min sync, but if loading images forces a sync, is there a pointer being unexpectedly reset?
