Changing the way read/unread messages appear?

Been using aqua mail for a while now and just can't get used to how messages look in the message list when they are unread,  they look grayed out.  To me grayed out looks like they've been read.  Would be really great if there was a way to customize this,  say to allow the user to specify the background and foreground colors of read and unread mail on the message list.

Customization and theming is always nice, not sure when/if I'll get to it though.

Right now, there is a setting under Message list to switch around the read/unread backgrounds.

Besides, unread messages have bold subject (or sender, if you've switched them around in the app's settings).
