« on: April 25, 2013, 12:56:57 pm »
Hi,
in my imap account i have a folder called "public" in thunderbird i can "subscribe" to this folder and its subfolders and see them parallel to my inbox.
how can i achieve this with aqua mail? is this supported?

My app does not use IMAP subscriptions, but there is a way to access folders on an as needed basis, it's under "Other folders..." in the folder dropdown (in the title bar) when you open a message list...

This item can also be enabled for the main window (account list) on a per-account basis, under Options and Folders.

If you use that, does the folder / hierarchy show?

i tried that first, but my folders arent listed in the "other folders..." view.
in thunderbird i have to manually select them to be visible in my inbox like this: http : // images.pcworld.com/images/article/2012/02/thunderbird20imap20subscribe-11324286.jpg
is this possible? i dont need these folder synced, but it would be nice if i could select them via the "other folders..." view and read mails.
hope that clarifies the bahaviour.
thanks

Do those folders appear in the web page of your email account?

No web access to your email? What email provider are you using?
Is the folder "Public" a local folder or a true IMAP folder?

hey,
its the mail server of my company. its a linux based postfix smtp / cyrus imap server.
the folders are true imap folders and are shared between more users. if you want to have the folder to read mails then you can subscribe to it using thunderbird (see my post above w screenshot). i can subscribe to these folders on every machine i use (notebook, pc, home pc), so they have to be on the server.

Ah, those folders must be under "shared" (or "public"? I forget) namespace.  AquaMail only supports the "personal" namespace, I had to pick one and chose the most common case. K9 is the same way, btw.

can i suggest a subscribe-feature like this to you? or do you have no plans in implementing this at all?

It's not a matter of subscribing, it's a matter of having to track which namespace (public vs. private) a folder belongs to.

I agree it would be cool, but given the length of my to-do and how many more apparent things are still missing, I'd say "no", sorry.
