Excessive IMAP connections
« on: April 22, 2013, 06:19:20 pm »
I've been trialing AquaMail but am having problems with it making excessive IMAP connections to my mail server and failing to sync:

Apr 23 00:12:13 dovecot: imap-login: Maximum number of connections from user+IP exceeded (mail_max_userip_connections=20)

I would have thought that 20 simultaneous connections would be plenty for one device?

How many folders do you have in push mode? I'm guessing more than a handful. Each requires its own server connection (just how IMAP push works).

In addition, when / if the device loses connectivity, all connections are lost, but it will take a while for the server to notice that.

So, checking the number of folders in push mode would be my top recommendation.
