Outlook mail - can't set up account in AquaMail

I'm trying to get my outlook.com account into the newest AquaMail Pro for Chromebook.

I've tried the automatic, and then manual.  And in manual, all appears correct.  But when it tests the account, the incoming always gives some sort of network error.

I've done searches and haven't found this addressed, all I've seen are some talking about the smtp settings.

On the off chance I'm not just talking to myself... 

Tried various settings in a vain attempt to get AquaMail to work with my outlook.com email on a Chromebook.  All to no avail, just won't get past the setup routine with the incoming imap server.

The default settings in AquaMail for this email service are the same as in my working Thunderbird on the Chromebook with linux via chroot.  And it works just fine, I just do not like it and never have.

Is it possible that AquaMail doesn't like my password structure?  Like special characters?

Would you please tell us what "sort of network error message" you see.

However, I assume that the issue - if there is a connection problem - could be caused by Google's "emulated" Android environment "running Android in Chrome OS".

OK, the error is:
Account check error
Incoming mail server (IMAP): Network error

And I wouldn't doubt that it is the emulated Android being the issue.  The extension that handles that is also used by Tapatalk and CloudMagic which I also have, and they both have some issues with connectivity to some extent.

Tapatalk won't get the 'feeds' but does work with the forums
CloudMagic is just twitchy.  Won't get mail from before 3/2/2016 but otherwise works.

Let me add a bit.
With CloudMagic, if I delete it, then reboot the Chromebook and reinstall, it all works as it is supposed to.  But if I then need to reboot or have logged out, when it comes up, it won't get mail before the March date.

Very weird.

Some more followup.
Dug around for an Android tablet since I don't generally use Android.  Found my old NookHD one, charged it up and then downloaded Aqua Mail on it.  Outlook mail configured just fine.  Checked the settings it was using and they are the same as the one for the ChromeOS version.

That pretty much nails it down that the issue is something twitchy in the Android emulator.  The odd part is it doesn't affect iCloud or Gmail IMAP accounts.

While fiddling a bit with the NookHD I was reminded why one of the reasons I quit using Android was that too many devices aren't kept up to date with current versions of the OS.  I'll stick to my Chromebook and iOS/OSX devices since that is not an issue for them.

Sorry for the delay, I just don't have the bandwidth to read the forum every day...

I'm seeing same networking issues in Chrome (which is what I use for testing the Chrome OS version) -- with Gmail too and one other provider I thought to try.

With the earlier Chrome versions, it worked just fine 100%. Not sure when it started (48? 47? the current Chrome is 49).

Thinking back.  CloudMagic and Tapatalk used to work quite well a bit ago.  The problems started with one of the updates to ChromeOS which might have also updated the Android extension.  Unfortunately I can't remember just when it started.
Whether it is the OS update itself, or a possible update of the extension it seems the ball is now in Google's court to fix.  Or possibly document what they might have changed so that developers could figure out a fix of their software.

Having wasted half my brain cells on the toxic "PDF on Chrome OS" discussion recently -- this is so refreshing!

You may want to add a comment to that bug report about CloudMagic, since -- IIRC -- this was one of the showcase apps for this ARC tech, and Google worked with them to make it possible.

So this would be a good data point for Google devs reading the bug report.

While I was pretty expert back in the day, I've been retired and mostly just play around with tech because it is so much fun and the frustrations that come along help me keep my mind active.  I'm 72 btw.

I don't know exactly how you do a bug report.  A pointer please.

I understand why devs are interested in a simple porting project from Android to ChromeOS, but I wish more would do ChromeOS apps natively.  I will admit I don't know how much work that is, or if there is any good financial reason to do it though.
