Email messages being deleted from server

Just in the last week or so, this has started.  It coincided with an update to aquamail.

In Account options, Deleting messages is set for "Hide in the app, keep on the server".  However, messages are being deleted from the server.  Is "Delete immediately" overriding the account setting above?

In the previous version of aquamail, I used the icons on the bottom of the screen and selected and deleted messages.  This never resulted in the messages being deleted from the server.

I prefer messages remain on the server until I use Windows Live Mail for permanent download from mail server.

What am I missing?

After the update, the icons at the bottom of the screen were no longer there, just a pencil.  With Inbox list displayed, I touched the 3dots & Select all and then 3dots & Delete immediately.  The next time I logged into windows live mail, those messages did not download from the server as they used to.

I don't see an eye icon and an X icon, I see a combined eye & X icon after I use Select all.  I haven't used it because I don't know its function.

My mail server, charter.net, is a pop3 server.  This was NOT an issue until the very recent update of Aquamail.  Windows Live Mail is configured with the box unchecked for "Leave a copy of messages on server".

What you can do is -- turn off "Floating Action Button" in app settings, under "look and feel".

This will bring back the icon bar along the bottom -- which you're already used to -- so it just may be more comfortable.

I have to comment that it doesn't make much sense, to a novice, that the Deleting messages setting "Hide in the app, keep on the server" is so easily overridden with only one touch of the "Delete immediately" selection.  Maybe it should be called "Delete from server" instead?  "Delete immediately" sounds more like "bypass the delete folder" to me.

The per-account "how to delete messages" changes the *default* icon for deleting messages.

No matter which one one you choose as the default, the other two are still available in the "overflow" (three dots) menu -- for added flexibility. This way the user always has access to all three (methods of deleting messages), on a case by case basis, as needed.
