First of all, thank you for bringing your wonderful Android application to Chromebook!  You have dramatically improved my email experience on Chromebook and improved the device's utility greatly by doing so!  Can't thank you enough!

I was wondering if there is a way, to increase the zoom / size of embedded images, in HTML emails that I receive, so that I can make them larger?  I found the View->Larger Font option in the email messages, and now the text size is about where I'd like it to be, so that worked great.  But it did not change the scale of the embedded images.  They remain smaller than I'd like, given the screen real estate I have.

I tried CTRL/ALT/SHIFT with the - and + keys, I tried volume, arrow keys, etc.  Couldn't find a hotkey that affected message zoom.

I tried turning off/on the Browser Like Zoom option, seemed to have no effect.  Trying to "pinch to zoom" on messages seemed to have no effect either.

I understand that there are limitations in the "magic" way that this app has been brought to Chrome, and perhaps this is such a limitation?  But if it's at all possible, I sure would appreciate it!  If there is not a way at present, please consider this a feature request for a future release.

Thank you either way!
-Jim

Today, I found that if you double click the background of an HTML email, for some reason, it increases the zoom of the entire email from about ~20% - which is great!  Whatever is causing this, is there a way to enable this permanently?   Or by default?

Emails from places like eBay show up as a long column, where the width of the email, is no where near the size of the preview width, which is wasting space. This is why I hope to increase this default zoom.

What you're probably seeing is the effects of message auto-fit (fit to width).

Please try turning this off in app settings -> message view.

Hmm, it was already off.  Tried turning it off and on, didn't seem to make a difference.  Also tried turning off Browser Like Zoom. Not sure what either option is trying to do as I didn't see a difference in behaviour.

Since I found I can double click the message background to zoom a bit, that helps.  It would be cool if I could have it default to this zoomed state, or better still, increase the amount of zoom.

What app version are you running?

And did you install it from Chrome Web Store (which has a really old version that's not been updated in a long time) or Google Play (don't know if your "book" has this capability)?

Ah, that explains it then.  The version i'm on, on the Chromebook, is v. 1.6.2.7.  It's dated 2016-07-06!

I did install it from the Chrome Web Store, yup.  Unfortunately, my book (the Asus C201 PA) does not yet have the ability to run Play Store apps  :'( - so this was my only option.   Support for the Play Store is Planned for my model at least, but no ETA for that :-(  - Here's list: https://sites.google.com/a/chromium.org/dev/chromium-os/chrome-os-systems-supporting-android-apps [nofollow]

Don't suppose the Chrome Web Store version could be upgraded?  Sounds like it would fix all these issues.  Regardless, even on this old version, it's still the best IMAP client option I have!

Sorry at this point that's an abandoned project.

Besides, I have no reason to think -- as much as I'd like to be optimistic, but.... -- that it would magically "fix all the issues".

Chrome Books are supposed to run Android apps "perfecto" but the Android there isn't real Android.

And so some differences (vs. real Android) do unavoidably surface and cause strange issues like that.

Fixing them without having a Chrome Book (which I don't regrettably) would be quit difficult.

I fix and repair electronics as a side hobby, and as a result, I could likely gift you a cheap/simple Chromebook soon :-)  If that would have any result in this being abandoned as a project ;-)

If you're interested in a free Chromebook, please DM me a shipping address.  I'll let you know when I have one.  I picked up the one I'm using at the moment, with nothing wrong with it at all for $120 on craigslist, so you can imagine how cheap a broken one can get!  So don't think I'm breaking the bank, and, for how much I use your app on multiple devices, it's the least I can do!

That's very kind of you, but:

I'm in Russia and the process of getting this through Customs would be quite painful.

Besides -

The tool to package Android apps for Chrome Web Store is this:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/arc-welder/emfinbmielocnlhgmfkkmkngdoccbadn

It has been updated fairly recently (Feb 2018), but check out this link in its description:

https://developer.chrome.com/apps/getstarted_arc

This is a Google page. It used to have information on packaging Android apps for Chrome and publishing them in Chrome Web Store.

Right now that content isn't there - rather it says

"You can now distribute your Android apps to Google Chrome OS devices, such as Chromebooks, through Google Play Store." right at the top.

So I'm afraid that Google has discontinued the old experimental "path" - packaging Android apps with Arc tool and publishing them to Chrome Web Store - and replaced it with publishing to Google Play directly.

I understand that your Chrome Book isn't one of those which support Google Play - but I don't think it changes anything for us on the packaging / publishing side.
