Correct settings for AquaMail to work with Easy Battery Saver
« on: January 07, 2014, 09:16:31 pm »
Hi,

I used to be a user of K9 but I recently switched to AM (Pro).

Just wondering what the best settings would be for background check etc as I am using Easy Battery Saver.
Had no issue when using K9, emails were checked according to planned intervals,  which does not always happen with AM.

Any suggested settings for my setup?

Thanks,
Mik

Thjere are settings to setup scanning frequency,

read this document to understand the way to do it, I hope you find the solution.

Thanks Fcasoli,

I have played with the settings over last few weeks and I more or less know what they are for - my question was rather about how I should set them up so they work the best with battery saving software.

So I would appreciate any suggestions.

I think if you disable push service and you sync every 15m, you can save battery.
I'm using Juice Defender, independently from AquaMail.

That is what I did, (every 10min check) but it does not always keep to the schedule.
Sometimes I can see emails have not been checked for 40min or more...

I have the same problem, I disabled Juice Defender but the problem persists.

Hi,

Can I warm this one up again please? I have also been looking for an alternative to K9. For a number of reasons I access my e-mail via POP on a number of devices and don't delete any messages on the server unless I access them from my desktop PC at home. That is where I keep my full reference of incoming mail.

K9 has given me an issue on my android device (KitKat) by deleting messages on the server even if I set it not to.

So, I like what I see in Aquamail very much and will be happy to upgrade to PRO if I can just get it to make scheduled checks as configured. At the moment, they just don't happen in the same way K9 and the stock email app did (albeit they both delete messages on the server whether I set them up to do so or not).

I also use Easy Battery Saver and have done for years. I like that very much as well. It would make my day to know that this issue can be solved. I have tried many many combinations of settings over the last week, but no scheduled syncs result.

Thanks in anticipation.

I'm not familiar with Easy Battery Saver... What sort of structure does its functioning have?

Does it toggle mobile data / WiFi?

Does it do this on a regular schedule (e.g. 0:00, 0:15, 0:30, etc.)?

Does it toggle the system's master "background sync" setting? On a regular schedule or "sort of every 15 minutes, give or take, can be between and 20"?

If I knew more, I might be able to think of something.
