icon on notification panel?
« on: May 11, 2017, 02:20:01 pm »
hello
sorry for my english.
First upon the arrival of a notification, scrolling through the notification window, icons appeared to act directly. (delete, read, ecc)
Now only the titles appear, with no icons.
All this after updating to android 7.

Android 7's notifications are different, and actions on "grouped" notifications are not supported anymore, even though Aqua still sets them, they're ignored by Android. Google'ers said this is "working as intended".

The new way is to "pull apart" (swipe down) the group notification and then the individual "cards" for each message will have action buttons again. That's how Google made it work.

Or you can turn off this "grouping" in Aqua Mail settings -> message notifications -> smart watch support.

You won't be able to "pull grouped notifications apart" (which you're probably not doing now anyway) but the action buttons on "> 1 message" notifications will return.

This menu item is still not clear for users (and after updating to Android 7 we found it enabled by default).

Had the same issue before (another thread). It would be an idea to enhance the description of that menu item.

Yes this is enabled by default if the app detects smart watch or Android 7 - since those are "more modern" notifications, "like in all other apps".

Re: better description

What do you recommend? I don't think we could fit my above description into max. one or two lines.

(thinking aloud, "brainstorming")
"Notification grouping"
Grouping of notifications in Android 7+ and smart watches.
or
Grouping of notifications in Android 7+ and smart watches for function buttons      [if this long description would fit]

Re: ability to pull grouped notifications apart

Oh please.

Nobody -- without already know what this is, or reading my explanation above, or perhaps something on the Internet, with screenshots -- will ever be able to understand what "ability to pull grouped notifications apart" means and how it relates to "no action buttons when there is more than one message".

Google really did a number on all of us, users, developers, with this one.
