Change the default outgoing email address
« on: December 15, 2017, 06:39:06 pm »
Every time I what to send an new email, Aquamail populates the sending address with an email address that does not exsist.  I use this most to share items from my android phone to my computer.  I want the default email address to be the same as the sending account, not some unknown address.  How do I change it.

Re:  populates the sending address with an email address that does not exsist.

Sorry not clear on what you mean.

The "from" account is chosen from your configured accounts (and identities / aliases of those accounts if any). The app doesn't make up sending addresses on its own.

To change an account's email address please long press on the account on the app's main screen -> account setup.

OK let me explain better.  Lets say that I receive a picture via text to my phone.  I click on it and select share.  Now a lot of different selections methods come up, where I select AquaMail.  When I do this, it puts in this email address to send to: tom@tshilton.com  which at one time was a valid email address, but has not been valid for over a year.  It does select the default account to use correctly.  How can I change the tom@tshilton.com to something else?
This action is unwanted.  I would rather the send to be blank.

I'm not aware that AquaMail will/could set a recipient as default, sorry.

Re: When I do this, it puts in this email address to send to: tom@tshilton.com

Send *to*?

Sorry I thought you meant "send from" by "sending address" in your original message.

Sounds like this "tom" could be an entry in your phone's Contacts (and is "starred" so Aqua pulls it up). I'd check there.

Re: I'm not aware that AquaMail will/could set a recipient as default, sorry.

I think it's Android's Direct Share feature. This tech article has a nice screenshot of how it looks to the user:

@tomhilton is that what it looks like?
