IMAP mail retrieval is pulling mail from 5 years ago

I've been using Aquamail for quite some time but recently it's been pulling mail from 2012 and earlier for some reason.  It did pick up about 10 recent messages but the rest are all from 2012 and earlier.  I've tried removing the account and readding it and also deleting the app and reinstalling it but with no success.  It's a Yahoo based account (but not actually yahoo as my isp uses their email servers for IMAP).  Looking for possible things to check to figure this out.  I've used the stock android email app and it pulls info no program. This seems to be isolated to the Aquamail program.

I'm guessing it's a migrated account (emails copied from somewhere else, or maybe your ISP used to self-host and just now moved to Yahoo)...

... and no it's not unique to Aqua, happens in other mobile mail apps too (which just like Aqua don't download the entire mailbox).

In short:

- Please long press on the account (on the app's main screen) -> options and folders -> account options

- change the “Messages to sync” setting from a number based value (like “25” or “50”) to a date range based value (like “7 days” or “14 days”).

- back out and refresh the account / folder
