How to auto-delete all emails in "Deleted" folder?
« on: August 19, 2016, 12:35:25 pm »
Assume I access my GMail account from multiple clients (e.g. Thunderbird; AquaMail; through browser,.....) from multiple devices.

Obviously sometimes I delete emails. These emails are moved currently always to "Trash" folder and shown in "Deleted" section of AquaMail.

Meanwhile some hundreds of emails are in "Trash"/"Deleted" folder.

Is there a way to tell AquaMail to look AUTOMATICALLY into the "Deleted" folder and delete all stuff which it finds regardless which client it declared it as "to delete" in the past?

...
1. Long press on Deleted folder in AquaMail, then delete (purge) all messages.
2. You may ask AquaMail to empty Deleted folders automatically, on exit. See settings for that.

Hi Peter,

You will find this option (2. ) in the app's settings:

> Mail, other > enable the option 'Perge [ Deleted ] on exit'

@mikeone:

Ok, according to your suggestion I enabled the option "Purge [Deketed] on exit"

Now I went to [Deleted] folder, then pressed Back....and re-entered  AquaMail:

messages in [Deleted] are still there. Nothing purged.

So this does not work.

Yes, according to FAQ I enabled

"There are settings (under “Look and feel”) to exit the app when Back is pressed in the message list… a setting for the popular “long press Back to exit” is there too"

How else can I AUTOMATICALLY delete the emails in [Deleted] folder (when pressing Back) ?

Purge delete on exit --> only does "local (in app)" folders, i.e. if your Deleted are not set to sync with the server (typical for POP3, not IMAP).

Just to protect certain type of users from themselves and me - from them...

Now on the other hand, if you use Menu -> Purge deleted folder on the app's main screen, then this will include all Deleted folders, set to sync with the server or not.

BTW: Gmail deletes messages in trash folder after 30 days. This will be synced to all clients.

Ok, now all "Deleted" folders are currently empty.

BUT: tapping on "Purge [Deleted] folders" is a one-time action.

After a while the "Deleted" folder get filled again with new messages.

How do I empty the "deleted" folder AUTOMATICALLY e.g. at Android reboot?
