aquamail requests a read receipt automatically

My Aquamail account is set to go thru an Exchange server using Outlook.  every time I send an email using aquamail, the receipient has to respond to a read receipt request.  But this doesn't happen if I send the same message using Outlook--it only happens when the message is originated in Aquamail.  How can I stop this?  I long pressed account and looked at the folders/options section, but the read receipt or confirmation box is not checked.

First, when you're composing a message, do you see "read receipt requested" (see screenshot)?

If you do, with any new message, it means you've set Aqua to enable it by default.

To turn off: long press the account -> options and folders -> composing and sending.
