Folder not displaying all emails VIA IMAP

I tried all the search terms I could think of and did not see this addressed anywhere.  I am on Android 4.1 using latest version of Free edition (was evaluating what client I want to buy).  I've been able to work through all other issues after reading forum post's and really enjoy the layout, configurability, and robustness of this application. 

I run my own e-mail server and for some reason one specific folder is not displaying the newest messages.  This is the sent folder after re-associating the default sent to the Sent Items folder used by my server.  There are about 1500 messages in that folder, but another IMAP folder with 2500 messages does show up correctly. 

The exact way it is failing is that is is starting the list of e-mail on about the 700th email in that folder, then proceeding in order of date from there as expected.  The count of number of messages on the folder screen is accurate however, so it seems to be more of a display issue than an actual sync issue.

Update to this issue, I found that when I send a message from my phone it shows up in the sent list as expected but will knock the next newest VISIBLE message off the list from being visible. 

There is also no change with the recent update. 

Let me know any thoughts questions.

Sounds like the messages on the server are not ordered by date.... If this is your own server, you should be able to reindex the folder.

As far as I know, K9 and and friends are also sensitive to server side message order, since the IMAP spec is very clear that it should be by date.

Aqua Mail has a diagnostic function just for this: long press the account -> Diag: message dates (last item) -> choose the sent folder, run to completion. You'll be prompted to send me a log file after the test completes.

Sent similar in an email but:

It took me a few days to check the website again. Busy work week. I do know that two other IMAP clients work but did only notice issue after combining folders. However cannot say for sure issue did not exist before merge as only had app for a day before merge.

I will look for ways to re index on the server. Thanks for the information

hmmm ...
Same Problem here - when I test it with the DIAG. Function I always get the message: Aquamail stopped - in German: Aquamail angehalten.
Pressing OK, Aquamail Pro shut down ... no matter which folder I select.
I have latest dev. build 1.3.25.2

For the crash, please email the crash log to kmansoft / gmail. It's a text file called log-AquaMail-crash.txt at the root of the memory card.

For the original issue, since 1.3.23, Aqua can sync "by date range" (a number of days), no matter how messages are sorted on the server.
