Disable automatic URL parsing in plain text emails
« on: March 23, 2017, 05:05:09 am »
Is there an option to disable the automatic parsing of URLs in plain text emails?

I'd prefer to not have that, and it doesn't seem to work properly anyway.

It's trying to make links from parts of file paths etc in status emails that do not require conversion.

I see that it's possible to disable 'Highlight phone numbers' but I can't find anything for URLs.

Not that I can think of.

Could you provide some examples of it "not working properly"? A few example URLs which -- what -- fail to highlight? Highlight partially?

An option to disable would ideal as I'm sure not everyone would require the conversion.

In my case I receive server status notifications with local file paths in them, which have no reason to be converted.

The bolded sections are what is being converted.

/aaa/bbb/ccc/example.com.conf
/xxx/yyy/zzz/example.com/myscript.sh

However for your reference, .org and .net are not converted.

My desktop mail client Thunderbird does not convert any of these.

Perhaps only converting domain names preceded with http(s):// would be a solution?

Thanks.

yes there is a special case for .com (and .ru too) where it doesn't require a protocol --

-- people often write "yahoo.com" and not "http://www.yahoo.com" and so on.

I should add some sort of check for this ("no scheme") case and not linkify.
